If You've Stopped Playing Destiny, Bungie Wants To Know Why

Despite its controversial $40 price tag, many thought The Taken King expansion for Destiny was well worth the cost.

Many players who had abandoned the multiplayer shooter came back thanks to that add-on, but are you one of them? If not, how come?

Apparently, that's what developer Bungie wants to know. The studio is reportedly surveying players who haven't jumped online in a while, and they're asking them simply, "why?" Evidence first showed up thanks to Reddit user unknownRNG, who posted a copy of the survey on Imgur. As you can see, Bungie would like to know what drove you away in the first place, and also why you haven't returned to the game. A few of the answer options include "I don't have anyone to play with," "I've run out of things to do," and "I don't like PvP."

Bungie also asks how likely you are to come back in the future. Well, perhaps that will depend on this year's content plans, which may include another Taken King-sized expansion. If you've stopped playing Destiny, what's up? And have you seen this survey?

If there was another Taken King sized expansion I would consider it. Also, I've heard many rumors of some tweaks to the loot system, but I'm still stuck at 298 getting low level shit, even with shax's supposed end game level promises. I haven't really played the game since fallout 4 came out.

I personally haven't come across the survey (and now, I wish I had so I can give my two cents :D).

I do think I could be considered someone who did not come back, although with regards to the Taken King expansion, I did play a a few months into it, enjoyed a bit of the raid (but not finished yet).

I haven't played Destiny for almost 4 months now, and I know damn well why. After a few sessions of Star Wars Battlefront, my eyes couldn't accept the sub-30 FPS and the overall graphics quality of Destiny anymore.. I know, very crappy reason. But.. I don't know, I guess it's just my eyes :(

I stopped because there was nothing left to do. Aside from the same thing over and over again.

I felt cheated when I bought the game on launch. Considering that the Free to play Warframe had and still has more content than it and is free with the same style of grinding PVE gameplay well...I just couldn't justify wasting my time and money buying DLC to keep up with others.

The game was not what was promise, and to be honest enemies and bosses felt like bullet sponges and I'm tired of that in shooters. It gets soooo redundant.

I'd like to see them stop nerfing weapons, more proper in game content more regularly, a fairer, more reliable system for getting loot i.e. upgrade materials , weapons, armor etc... than the RNG system that does not consistently reward the hard work put in. And a party up system for Raids, regardless as to what Bungie's excuse is for not integrating one. Also flesh out the story so the game feels less grindy, that there's a sense of purpose to why you're running the same areas over and over again. Also increase the fire team size to at least four or five people. If you're playing with a group of regular mates, three people just doesn't work.

That sums it up nicely.

Because for the $40 on DLC I expected each one to be roughly the size of what the taken King ended up being not a few PVP maps, a strike, and a Raid in only one of them, along with a few very half-assed story missions. So I already dumped $100 I don't feel like making it $140.

I've put countless hours into Destiny. I stopped around October-ish, after finishing the Taken King raid. Cuz, after that, there wasn't much else to do, other than repeating the same Daily/Weekly/Nightfall events.
What's kind of annoying is, they repeat them so much, sometimes you're playing the exact same Nightfall 3 weeks in a row! (pre-Taken King, but still)
Or you're waiting to see what Xur has to sell each Friday, and it's a repeat item from like 2 weeks ago. It's annoying and lazy!

That said, I did go back to play Iron Banner last week. Still fun to shoot others in PvP!
I think I might go back only for Iron Banner, and that's it.

In the meantime, I can catch up my backlog of games...

I stopped playing primarily because I couldn't get 6 people together to do raids. They look amazing, but it's really frustrating that you can't match with other people looking to get in. As soon as they add in raid matchmaking I'll be back.
