Keep Pushing Sony, You Haven't Won Yet

Okay, so you've taken the gaming world by storm. Microsoft may have successfully countered and in the end, you might not be able to own the US. The Xbox brand may be simply too powerful.

But there's no denying that you're off to a running start, Sony. The PlayStation 4 is one hot item and the number of positive headlines continues to grow with every passing day. However, it's critical to remember one thing- it's very easy to become a prisoner of the moment. Individuals and companies alike can let that happen.

Hence, this is no time to rest on your laurels and bask in all those positive vibes. Rather, Sony should continue to push and press. Microsoft is running scared; they're on the ropes; they're rescinding annoying, extremely unpopular mandates. Sure, they'll keep plying developers with vast amounts of cash in an effort to steal away exclusives. They'll effectively cater to the casual sheep who don't follow video game news and are barely aware that PlayStation exists. All this means that Sony has to continue pushing forward, dropping great news and even hints at great news on the horizon. Don't let up now; keep the accelerator pinioned!

It's time to stick with what you do best. Announce more exclusive software that turns heads and makes everyone "ooh" and "aah." Tell us Uncharted 4 is in the works and will release exclusively for the PS4 during the 2014 holiday season. Tell us Kazunori Yamauchi and Co. are indeed working on a PS4 version of Gran Turismo 6. Tell us The Last Guardian is actually coming and it's being adapted to the PS4. Tell us Insomniac is coming back to the PlayStation fold, an they're bringing Resistance 4 with 'em. Tell us an official God of War reboot is on the way. Tell us more about Quantic Dream's The Dark Sorcerer. Tell us about a new LittleBigPlanet.

Do that and victory might indeed be assured.

Unlike MS, which I'd bet, showed a vast majority of all their goods at E3, Sony still has Gamescom in August and The Tokyo Game Show in September in which to shower us with more eye candy!

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony/ND held off until December and Spike's Video Game Awards to show us their latest project, they do have a history of doing that.

I agree with that statement! Sony hasn't showed all their cards yet. Vita will be at Gamescom and I think Sony will give a release date. Then they'll end their PS4/Vita marathon at the TGS destroying Microsoft in the process.

I hope ND is working on something new, but if they can redefine Uncharted and really elevate it (don't think you can do much more with the current formula after 3), then I'd like to see a new entry. But something far more in line with U2 in terms of tone.

Sony does need to keep pushing. If they don't MS may track them down, but Sony is off to a great start. But we need to keep seeing more about all these new exclusive IPs, as well as their continuing support for indie developers attracts me as a game developer, because Sony really supports their devs. Also, showing off the new MLB The Show would be great as well.

While R4 would be great to see, I don't think Insomniac is interested in Resistance anymore. I think they say so themselves, and that franchise is unfortunately dead I think due to the declining sales. This is a shame considering how good that series was, and how R3 is arguably the best game in the series but sold the least.

Gamescom should give us some more stuff for sure. It'd be great to get some MGS V exclusive DLC for PS3 and PS4, and other things like this.

K, I'm a part of this one survey panel, and although I'm not supposed to be talking about it, ND was seriously considering open roam for the next Uncharted. I opted to say that I'd be interested in such a possibility. It may or may not happen, but if it does, don't be too surprise.

While it would be great to see a new Uncharted (and possibly an open roam version too). The brilliance of the story telling that ND did with The Last of Us, makes me want to see what other stories ND is capable of telling.

I don't see any reason why Uncharted couldn't have a great narrative with a game that has open roaming and linear stages. I don't get why devs think they have to stick to one.

Funny how MS bragged about all the exclusives they had coming to Xbone then BOOM! Sony says "that's nice....we have 30 exclusive titles in development".

And those 30 exclusives are from 1st party studios. When you account for 3rd party and indie exclusives, the PS4 has even more of them.

Yeah they need to keep the heat on, like Simcoe said they could be waiting for the next show to make serious announcements but I wouldn't even wait for that, I'd launch a teaser campaign.

The "Greatness Awaits" thing just isn't hype enough, I could create a powerful ad campaign for Sony at this point that would make Don Draper cry and Sony seems to be letting off the gas already.

I expect the same thing from this gen as last. Most of MS "exclusives" will be available on my PC and Sony's exclusives will actually be exclusive to the console.

But there is the unknowing masses to consider. Keep pummeling them with more, and you may draw the attention of the rest out there.

I think Ben has a point. And it would be harmful to have what we know now as all the info that will come. If you don't add more in reasonable succession, it will just look like all the cards are on the table and there's nothing new.

and all it does is give us the ability to not know we got a trophy. not sure who asked for that but ok. lame that all it does is hide the trophy message. thats what they wasted their time on?

everyone has asked for a separation of the friends signing on and actual messages but for some reason us not seeing trophies was the better route.

Actually 4.45 caused some PS3's to malfunction. However 4.46 also adds a fix and the ability to revitalize the PS3 affected by 4.45. Theres instructions all over the net on how to do this for those that were affected by 4.45.

No, really. I want more of that stuff. I never had a PS2 so this franchise is new to me.
Katamari Forever is one of the extremely few games this gen I've played more than once, and the same levels over and over.

Last time I'm saying this, GT6 PS4 most likely won't happen. It can be a big deal because others may wait, wait, and wait, only to see that it won't happen and when it does, it won't be GT6 and end up skipping it for GT7 or something. It seems a lot of people misintrepet what Kazunori meant. He even specifically stated that they cannot work such a project in coincide with GT6 for the PS3 in which they'll have to continue working on for post support. The first GT PS4 we'll see will probably be GT7.

If anyone is still confused, I'll just post a link next time.

As for Sony, I'm sure they'll fire it up at Gamescon in August, so no worries. I'm looking forward to what those new exclusive are, as well as returning ones.

You may be right. I have decided not to wait and get gt6 on release, as I have gotten every other. Because the thought of waiting for something that possibly might not happen just doesn't sit well with me. Especially since I'm such a big GT fan.

But I do wish to know where you are hearing these things. I don't do social media so if it's there it would explain why I haven't heard or seen anything. Everything I've seen up to this point implies that GT6 on PS4 is possible, but you seem to have read or heard quotes that pretty clearly state otherwise. I asked for some of them in the last GT article but did not receive a reply.

just games aint going to be enough, they need to expand their services and marketing as well.
i really want to see gaikai used to stream ps1 and ps2 games onto any device you own.
mobile data shouldent be a problem for that, well they say they can do ps4 games with that but yea sure ill believe it when i see it!
so far they have only talked about ps3 games, and only for US they wont say boo when anyone else will get it.
exactly why $ony has always and always will struggle.
the EU is their strongest market by a MASSIVE margin!
so why do they consistently insistently blatantly give them the middle finger time and time and time and time and time and time again?

they need to show us a whole new world of multitasking and the center of your world, everything you do, is through a playstation device.
thats why playstation mobile is so important so they really need to get that out there to more platforms!
we need to see features that just were thought simply impossible, wow the world, services and features can and will impress allot more than what a silly uncharted or GOW game will!

and most importantly MARKET THE GOD DAM DEVICE!!!!!!!!!
perfect example PAX is coming to AU this year for the FIRST time!
xbox jumps up and says me to, me to, will be there, come check out the xbox one!
ps4?
crickets............
if this was PAX in the US $ony would be barking like rabid dogs, but since its not the US, crickets.......
thats why M$ do so well, they take EVERY opportunity to expose people to their products, and will spare NO expense!
$ony, well, again, crickets..............

There was a time that people thought exclusives would go the way of the dodo and you could get a game on any of the consoles. Why this does not work is why bother have multiple consoles then.

Exclusives, successes and failures will decide how things go for Sony. There latest firmware debacle does not look good and Xbox fanboys trounced on that along with the constant long downloads.

Sony needs to stay focussed and not trip up at all now.

Keep Playing!
