Play Your PS4 Games on the New Sony Xperia

So the new Sony Xperia Z5 is available in the U.S. in several venues including Amazon. What does a phone have to do with Playstation you ask? Quite a bit actually. You can use the phone to play your PS4 games via remote play. On the Playstation Blog, they posted a guide to setting it up and including how to pair the phone with a DS4 controller.

That’s pretty cool and all but I gotta say, it’s a pretty hefty price tag at $600 for the phone (or $500 if you get the compact version). That’s more than I paid for my PS4. I mean I guess people are buying IPhones for a similar price. Don’t get me wrong this looks like a really nice phone and the reviews are really good on it but I just can’t bring myself to pay that much. Of course I never bought an IPhone either.

So do you think it’s worth it? Maybe I’ve been too frugal with my cell phone purchases. This phone is pretty awesome and I do want it but I probably won’t be getting anytime soon. What about you guys?

$600 is pretty standard for a Flagship. HTC, Samsung, Apple all price around the $600-800 range.

Probably not unless you really want a Sony phone. Most people I know who work or have worked in the cellphone market advise to stay away from Sony phones.

From what I gathered this one is much improved from previous Xperia phones.

I have no clue why your friends would say that. The phone is not mainstream. They probably get influenced by the Samsung and iPhone advertisements. It's like a Sony laptop versus other windows laptop. How can you say one is better than another when the guts are identical? (Aside from Apple which created a new community). Some features in Samsung phones are present in the Sony phones, except they are not heavily advertised.

I don't see any fault in the Sony phone. Top of the line camera, waterproofing, gaming, and battery life. People are not appreciating the waterproofing as they should. walking and texting is now a norm. Its a life changer to text in the rain or in the shower. Glad Sony kept it.

It's not so much the hardware they have problems with. It's the version of android. Apparently it's crap compared to Samsung's and of course Googles phone.

Sony always put their own skin on their android phones, have done it since they started using android, as many other companies do. Sometimes (ok, all the bloody time!) it takes Sony a few months to roll out the latest android update. TBH, don't notice the difference.

I blame Apple for all these pricey smartphones.
How I wish Nokia could be top again but that's no longer possible...........

Apple makes a good smart phone and a much better OS than android though I can't say that I love iOS. I just happen to prefer it over creepy google's android.

I love my Z3. It has also remote play and works fine, but for me it wasnt a selling point.

Best Android Phone I've had

I got my first cell phone about a year ago (not counting the Nokia 5190 my parents made me have in high school) because my work is now nearly impossible without one. It's held up pretty well but I could definitely use weather proofing and remote play. This might be my new phone in a year when I upgrade. I wonder how good all the new weather proofing is? I see that you could drop it in a fish tank or text in the rain without worry, but I really need a completely waterproof/oceanproof phone. Or better yet a completely oceanproof smart watch I could use while surfing.

I've had a Z1s and currently have a Z3. This line of phone has been nothing but good to me. I'll see about getting the Z5 Premium with 4k display.

You can actually download a unofficial app that works on any android phones called remote play, that allows you to stream your ps4 to any android phone. It's a bit harder to set up the ps4 controller though.

I have the Z3. It's excellent except that my audio jack no longer works. Didn't detect headphones, aux cables... Anything. I bought a $10 Bluetooth adapter for the car and already have wireless, Bluetooth ear plugs, but still.

Sucks to have hardware issues.

I must be the rare breed still with the original Z1. Must say the phone was grand up until the last update. Now the screen flickers. I think I'll get a new phone, but as they change so fast I'd rather put the money into something longer term like a new laptop.
