Rumor: FFXV and FFVII Remake coming to Nintendo NX, will surpass the PS4 version

Nintendo's relationship with Square Enix is currently on the up and up.  Square Enix has recently allowed one of its most treasured characters, Cloud Strife from FFVII, to join the Smash Bros roster and Final Fantasy Explorers has just launched as a 3DS exclusive.  So it seems the two companies get along very well these days.

A new rumor from SuperMetalDave64, a YouTuber with a reasonably solid track record when it comes to rumours, has suggested that Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy XV will both be released on the Nintendo NX at some point.  Furthermore, he said that both versions could end up being the definitive editions, as the hardware in the Nintendo NX will be more powerful than what’s currently available in the PS4/Xbox One.

Final Fantasy XV is currently a multi-platform title, confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One, so a release on NX at some point would probably make sense.  Final Fantasy VII Remake is a timed PS4 exclusive but Square Enix has already said they're considering the idea of carrying it over to "other platforms", on which they could also release it on PC, Xbox One, and probably NX too.  Meanwhile, Nintendo is thinking of delaying the supposed 2016 release date of Nintendo NX and will probably release it on 2017 instead.

It's fine with me if FFXV and FFVII remake will also come on the Nintendo NX.  It just means that those 2 games will be more accessible to gamers.  But if the NX version of those 2 games will be better than the PS4 version, will you buy it?  Me, I'll still stick with the PS4 version mainly because I'm a big PlayStation fan and it's ok with me if it is the inferior version.  How about you guys?

Games coming to Nintendo isn't something that matters to me. I like Nintendo. Games coming to Xbox doesn't even bother me either. Multiplats going exclusive is the thing that bothers me. Anyway, since I gave up on square enix a while back, it's sad that I don't care for the series anymore. They used to be my go to jrpg devs.

Last time I read about the NX it sounded like something with a portable design(I'm wrong?), I doubt it gonna be more powerful than the PS4 or the XB1 and if that's the case it gonna be a really high cost console.

Speculation is it has both a portable and home console unit. Knowing Nintendo it probably won't cost too much. If it's at least on par with PS4 tech has only dropped in cost. Not to mention Nintendo will trim the fat in order to make it more affordable. I expect it be priced no more than $400.

From what I heard so far it's a portable and home console, it gets more power depending on how many hardware are connected to it along with how much people online are contributing to your system. So basically the portable will connect to console to give it more power. Then there's also be a cloud thing where other people who allow their own system to be used by others for rendering I guess for your game. Basically the more systems that are connected to the cloud, the better quality your game would have. At least that's what I gathered from reputable outlets online. It could explain how the nx could be more powerful than competition. Either way it's all speculation until Nintendo says something about it already.

Frankly if this is true, I like this approach but not completely. Like buying an add on is cheaper than buying a new system sounds good. It would be funny to see years later that you have a Lego type game system after a while, lol. Bad part is it would be relying heavily on the cloud which I don't see as a reliable alternative to just buying a new console. I mean psn goes down for a day and people lose their $h!t. The idiot entitled people even ask for ridiculous compensation for it.

I also predict that it would be hard to find one in stores, jawknee. Not because it's selling extremely well.. But, You know... The Nintendo type shortages.

Thanks guys.. and yes it sounds interesting, but I kinda hated when they announced it on 2015 when I was decided to buy a WiiuU for Bayonetta 2 and Smash and this made back pedal.

Hope they have backwards for WiiU.

FF XV is going to Xbox, a console brand that has been a massive failure in Japan, to me it'd be idiotic of SquareEnix not to make an NX version. FF VII we'll have to wait and see what happens. The trailers are saying 'play it first on PS4' but I wonder as it gets closer to release if it seems like it's going to live up to expectations if maybe Sony wouldn't try to completely lock it down as a PS4 exclusive.

As for 'more powerful hardware' and 'Definitive' versions. I remember hearing that same stuff about Wii U and while it was more powerful than PS3 and Xbox 360 it wasn't by much and it certainly was not getting the best or most complete versions of games. That said, the truth is PS4 and Xbox One aren't exactly super powerful, and Nintendo has had plenty of time to create a console that is quite a bit more powerful. So I'm not ruling it out. Then it's just a matter of convincing devs to not half a$$ their releases. SquareEnix and Nintendo do seem to have a good relationship now so these rumors can't be totally discounted. As somebody who grew up in the 8- and 16-bit glory days of Nintendo home consoles, I'd love for the NX to be the true successor to the SNES.

Nintendo is not my cup of tea and only bought Nintendo GC in the past for RE1/RE0 and MGS:TTS because they were exclusives. I won't buy NX only to have better version of the game.
Besides, when PS5 will hit the market, it will get all episodes of FFVII Definitive Edition.
Don't really care for FFXV.

Considering the NX is a handheld that's also a console makes me disbelieve this one pretty harshly. But who knows, if it is super powerful that's great news I guess. I'll still buy it on the ps4 though.

Seeing as the NX is coming out 3 years after the PS4, I would expect better visuals, for sure!

I hope not. We really need more exclusives on PlayStation - I'm pretty sure the VII Remake is at least Exclusive? - Not that it matters, who buys Final Fantasy on Xbox...

But the day Final Fantasy's experience is compromised on PlayStation is the day I leave. I really hope it is not the case as that is a game I want to excel on the PS4.

Also, the rumours of the NX are that is it in 900p, not 1080p - Though they say it is capable of 4k.. not something I need with a 1080P set mind you.

nintendo....making a console more powerful than ps or xb? well just see about that. and even if it is true, well thats just obvious when you decide to build a console a few years AFTER your opponent. obviously youre gonna have newer technology.

either way, im sticking to the ps4 version.

Wasn't more powerful than Xbox but was about on par. Both definitely had better hardware than PS2.

You're telling me they are releasing a console more than four years after the ps4 and that it will only be on par or slightly better then ps4? It would be incredibly stupid to start a new gen with outdated specs, 4k 60fps should be the next goal consoles try to reach. As for the games neither interest me.

Hey good, let them have the game too. Let it be better for all I care. The timed PS4 exclusivity isn't even a big deal I'd rather have some exclusive PS4 DLC outfits or something so long as PS fans get a lil respect.

If this NX is any good or does anything special I'll even take a look at that. Nintendo never should have left the sensible world.

The Wii was actually a good direction to go for Nintendo.I was never a fan of waggle and still isn't but I was interested to play the Wii. Problem was third party support for it was crap. It was just first party games and a select few third party was worth a Damn. They should've fixed that part first before releasing the Wii u. Wii u was a mistake in itself. That gamepad wasn't really anything special. It was cool to be able to play when the tv was in use but that's about it. I bought one just to play Mario kart, smash bros, and mario games. Didn't even care about third party.

If they manage to fix their third party support and the nx can do what is speculated, it might be a hit. Only problem I see for them is a network. Everything is online now and this basically becoming their first shot at it seems like it would be too much for them to do.

There's still no reason why the Wii couldn't have been a strong HD machine with a real controller too that played multiplats. That's what I mean by sensible world.

I can't be excited about the NX. The Wii was one of my more regrettable console purchases, and I still don't have enough reason to get a WiiU. Also, FFVII is one of my least favorites in the series, so the remake is no big whoop-dee-doo in my opinion. The demo for XV was pretty, but ultimately just running around spamming the square button, so it's a bargain-bin buy for me. Hopefully SE can save FF with XVI.
