Ubisoft Confirms: No Microtransactions For The Division
Don't like microtransactions?
Well, don't worry, because you won't see any in the hugely anticipated upcoming tactical shooter, Tom Clancy's The Division.
You normally find them in Ubisoft franchises like Assassin's Creed and last year's Rainbow Six Siege certainly had them. But community manager Natchai Stappers confirmed on Twitter (via IGN) that there will be no such option in The Division:
@Tovarisc_ There will be no microtransactions, and definitely no P2W— natchai stappers (@natchai_) February 26, 2016
Those who played the beta saw something called "Phoenix Credits," so some thought these would be tied to a microtransaction. But Stappers says this system is all about gameplay and not about getting extra cash out of the player. This solidifies what creative director Magnus Jansen said back in January, about how the game in question would have "no shortcuts." And that's always good to hear.
The recent open beta for The Division drew a whopping 6.4 million testers, and Ubisoft believes the game could become one of the biggest new IP launches in history. The title is set to release on March 8 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
