The Division Earns Ubisoft A New Five-Day Revenue Record
Remember when Ubisoft said Tom Clancy's The Division could end up setting sales records?
And remember how it became the publisher's fastest-selling game ever?
If so, you won't be surprised to learn that the massively popular third-person tactical shooter generated a whopping $330 million worldwide in just five days at market, which is indeed a new record for Ubisoft. The info comes courtesy of a new press release, where they remind us that players have already spent over 100 million hours in the post-apocalyptic virtual Manhattan, which is a lot. As a frame of reference, Activision's Destiny managed to gross $325 million in its first five days, so The Division ekes out a narrow victory.
Said Ubisoft online services vice president Stephanie Perotti:
"On top of record-breaking sales, player engagement is the highest ever for any Ubisoft title, demonstrating, among other things, that our investments in our online infrastructure and services are paying off. We are delivering an online experience that's on par with the best in the industry, and that matches the quality and connectivity demanded by The Division and its players."
