Destiny's Big "April Update" Dated, More Coming Via Twitch

News Images II - 09086

The game just keeps getting bigger and better.

Another big update for the increasingly expansive Destiny has been dated and detailed by developer Bungie, which means fans will have more reasons to dive back into the fray next month.

Bungie breaks down the aptly named "April Update" (or Update 2.2.0) at their website and we first learn the date of its release: April 12. Players can expect new and updated gear, a new quest featuring the Blighted Chalice Strike, updates to the Sandbox and Crucible, and an increase to their maximum Light and rewards. The team tossed up an image as well (see it above), though besides reminding us of The Taken, we don't know much else about that pic. For more details, remember that Bungie will provide us with more info via Twitch livestreams over the next few weeks.

The livestreams will run on March 23, March 30 and April 6, and each show will begin at 11 a.m. PST. And yes, this latest update will be included if you're late to the party and have yet to purchase The Taken King, which released last fall.

stuff like this is enough to get me to go play Destiny again but only as a back up when i dont have anything else to play. Destiny is good cause i can just pick it up, play for an hour or two and not worry about missions or quests and then go play something else

I'm all about the Division right now, but will go back to Destiny for new content and Iron Banner! =)

I got hooked on Destiny when I got it on a Black Friday sale and played it in December to do the Sparrow Racing. Didn't play it for "real" until January.

Enjoyed it for two months - got one character manually from level 1 through 30. Haven't played multiplayer a lot at ALL, though, which is limiting my experience.

And now, I'm hitting the wall. It's fun to waste some time when I just want a few minutes to run around and kill things, but unless you have people to play with that you know aren't 12-year-old...babies (well, or 48-year-old babies, because that happens too), it's just too hard to play half the content that's out there. Trying to organize a time that works, without feeling obligated if family needs keep me away, just feels like a struggle rather than a break.

The gear I was really looking forward to weeks ago now feels like minor updates to what I have, and while there are plenty of challenging things to do, it's the same combat over and over.

Not a serious problem, as I have a ton of other games (picked up a boatload on Black Friday, including a PS4 after having a year of Plus titles redeemed), but I'm starting to find it harder and harder to get excited about Destiny. That said, I still hit up Xur on my lunch break today. And I'm sure I'll play all the new April Destiny content, particularly with PvE an emphasis.

But honestly, that's why I'm not touching the Division until the disk comes out with all the DLC at a third of what they're charging now...if then.

Yeah, you totally get the strategy they are using to get consumers to keep dumping money. The reason I didn't get The Division was for the same reason. It appears my patience will pay off because I spent tons of money on Destiny only to really get about half the playtime I would from other games that they compare it to in the genre.
