PSXE Poll Update: Most Have No Interest In Pre-Ordering PSVR

News Images II - 09876

With all the PlayStation VR news in the past few weeks, we just had to know: Are you on board?

Well...no. Not according to the results of our latest poll, anyway:

We asked if gamers planned on pre-ordering the already hot item that is Sony's new virtual reality device, and the majority of participants said they simply have no interest. A fair portion said they wouldn't get it out of the gate but they'd probably snag it later, so maybe that's encouraging for Sony, but the bottom line is that most of our readers weren't falling all over themselves to pre-purchase that launch bundle, and it falls in line with a poll we ran in late January. People weren't all that enthusiastic then, either.

This week, another obvious question considering the apparent inevitability of a more capable PlayStation 4: What do you think of this idea? Will you definitely get "PS4K" when it comes out? Or are you just really ticked off at Sony for even considering the idea? Let us know.

Maybe it will spike up when it hits store shelves.

The preorders are flying off pretty well everywhere within minutes. Except at Best Buy, because, well it's Best Buy.

Gamestop claimed they have "most" of their units pre-ordered.

The fact that they didn't claim a complete sell-through does suggest to me the early adopter rush may have already dried up.

Wonder how gamers will react once the game scores start to shore up.

Well, I do want to call you all deadbeat non-supportive losers. But I'll call you careful gamers instead.

PS4K is the devil. It needs a boycott. That's where we mustn't support. New exciting ideas and ways to play? Yes. Cash grabs to mess with us? No.

To be fair, vr gives some of us some pretty nasty headaches.

The PS4K itself isnt a bad idea. In fact if Sony/Microsoft wanted to continue the idea of moving more in line with the PC world, like they started with the design and build of the "next gen" consoles themselves, I think it would be a good idea.

Let there be 2 tiers of console, the cheaper "mainstream" $400 one and a more "enthusiast" $700 one that would include higher graphical fidelity. If I were to do it thats how I would.

The PS4, consoles in general, is what is being designed for in major AAA games. Then when that benchmark is hit you tweak the settings for the higher graphics. Just as has been done to the PC ever since consoles have become the more mainstream form of gaming. You just allow the higher performance machines to access greater functions.

Of course that is probably not how they will sell/market it. It probably will just be a re-imagined PS4 that can "support" 4K. And that would really disappointing.

Also no interest in VR. I dont want to put anything on my head. If it was those "step into this room" VR's we used to see in the movies I'd be intrigued. But I dont wear hats, Im not wearing a monitor.

How do we know the new PS4 is just a 'cash grab to mess with us' when we don't know anything about it?

We do know quite a bit about it. It's a higher end version of the PS4 that runs better. S'it.

Adrift has a Gamespot review. 5 out of 10.

I want VR to succeed. I also don't know where I want to put my money with it. PC or console.

Wait and see.

the 4k fad sucks. not everyone has a 4k tv. not everyone has $460 to drop on new hardware that isnt a brand new system. which they might as well so lets now make it $860 for the ps4k. great.

Heeeeey.
What if PS4K becomes the winner, and PS VR becomes the fad?

Not gonna' lie. If the updated console comes with any graphical or optional frame upgrade (eg. choose to stay 1080p but get better frames) then I'll most likely get it. Then I can sell my original baby to a good mate for cheap and we can play together happily.
