Square Enix Considering Making More FFXV Ultimate Editions
Last week, when Square Enix unleashed the Final Fantasy XV media blitz, we saw the two special editions the publisher will offer.
One of these special editions, the jam-packed Ultimate Collector's Edition, rapidly sold out at Square Enix's online store. Obviously, the steep $270 price tag didn't dissuade consumers.
But fans are still clamoring for this package, so the company might make more. Square Enix originally said they'd only produce 30,000 Ultimate Collector's Editions but due to demand, they're reconsidering that number. According to what they said on the game's Japanese Twitter page (as translated by Siliconera), there's a chance fans can pre-order again in the future:
"[T]he preorders for the Ultimate Collector's Edition vanished in a flash, and we've received plenty of voices from those that weren't able to acquire it. We are terribly sorry about that. At the moment, we're continuing with internal coordination to see if we can somehow increase its production. We will make an announcement as soon as there's any progress!"
Click through the link above to find out what's in the package; there are several highly collectible items. But is it worth $270? After playing the demo, what do you think?
Final Fantasy XV will release on September 30 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One; a PC version could follow. Recently, director Hajime Tabata clarified his 10 million sales goal statement, saying 10 million wasn't necessary for the project to break even. It's merely an internal goal...and frankly, an insane one. That would be 10 times what Lightning Returns sold.
