The Division Getting New Challenge Series: Operation ISAC

Last week, we found out that a big (and free) April update will deliver a ton of fresh content to Tom Clancy's The Division.

But developer Massive isn't done.

As revealed at the Ubisoft blog, the first Incursion and P2P loot-trading system aren't the only new additions players can expect: They've announced a new challenge series called Operation ISAC, which will consist of weekly in-game assignments in which players can earn rewards. We don't have a lot of info just yet but we do have a slick teaser trailer; see it below.

Fans will see a special "transmission" every Tuesday from ISAC (Intelligent System Analytic Computer) that explains the assignment, and then they have the option of embarking on the unique challenge. Sounds like fun! And here's hoping we get some cool rewards for our efforts.

The Incursions update launches on April 12 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, and that's also the day the Operation ISAC challenges kick off, so make sure to mark your calendar. The Division is one of our favorite games thus far in 2016, and we're hardly the only supporters; the title set a new five-day revenue record for the publisher.

I like the rapid support and that it's free. This definitely is setting this game apart from Destiny in that regard. This gme certainly replicates Destiny in a lot of ways though. Holding button prompts, daily challenges, weekly challenges, its structured very similiar. But its doing a lot of things better. Im still new to it, but aside from a lack of main missions, theres seems to be some meat to it regarding end game content.

However, I wish it was more open world say like a Skyrim rather than pretty much locking you out of areas until you hit a certain level. I'm not a huge fan of this structure because I really feel like it takes away from the immersion. I don't feel like a player with choice but rather I'm stuck doing things of no value to grind to the appropriate level, to appease the developers way of squeezing every ounce of content out of the player so they don't feel like it's empty. Because if this map were open and the player could go anywhere it sure wouldn't feel like the content is there.

I'm a little confused why the paid dlc is timed exclusive but whatever.

I also just had the game crash on me for the 3rd or 4th time in 5 days. That's a record for me, and it's one of those things I find inexcusable. Alas I rebooted anyways.

Edit: ...and a 5th time. Twice in 10 minutes.

This game is a glitch-fest, for sure. I've fallen through trucks, floors, audio issues (especially in Dark Zone), and the game crashed on me once.

Doesn't matter. Still love this game! =)

Big - yeah I'm not going to give up on it. I do enjoy playing Co op for sure.

My biggest issue with the game (Level 30 and DZ Level 41) is the fact the world itself hasn't sucked me in at all.

I mostly use this game to hang out with my sons, and that's about it.

I agree the world is a little underwhelming. It's just not immersive and I actually find it a chore to go into buildings or when I have to go into subway tunnels. I don't know why but when I see that marker come up as I'm traveling to an objective to go down, I'm like "ugh".

One thing that isn't very 'Destiny' about it (yet?), is the rare and special weapons in the game.

I find I'm always upgrading and using different guns all the time. There isn't this one go-to rifle that kicks uber-ass (a la Suros Regime), or a Sniper rifle that is just too good, everybody uses it (Icebreaker), or the Gjallorhorn rocket launcher, etc.

Looks at nearly everyone running around with a Vector in the Dark Zone...

Doesn't matter, game's still fun!

A few guys with flamethrower that shoot a 80 foot flame. That's irritating.

The fire looks very cool though. And when you shoot their tank and they explode, it's very satisfying! =)

And *that* is the reason I can't find myself immersed in this game. Bullet sponges and unmemorable characters are the bad guys in this game.
