New Valkyrie Profile Announced, But For Which Platform...?
We haven't seen a Valkyrie installment since 2009, and it hasn't appeared on a PlayStation platform in the West since 2008.
But the wait might soon be over.
Although we have few details right now, Square Enix has posted up a teaser site for a game called Valkyrie Anatomia: The Origin, with an estimated Japanese release date of Spring 2016 (as translated by Gematsu). That's very soon so here's hoping the info will start to flow some time this month...
We don't have any images or teaser vids, either; just the logo you see here. The only downside is that the word "distribution" on the site leads one to believe that this could be a mobile game only, which would really suck but hey, Japanese devs are flocking toward the smartphone market in droves. Americans aren't the only ones on the planet addicted to their portable devices.
Another note: It seems Yoshinori Yamagishi, producer for Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume (which released for DS back in 2009), is involved. This could mean noted RPG developer Tri-Ace is heading up development. Well, cross your fingers for a full-fledged new title; gamers in the U.S. got Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria on PS2 in 2006 but nothing since...
