id Working On Next-Gen Console Title, Could It Be DOOM 4?
Whenever id Software is in the news, veteran gamers pay very close attention.
According to Kotaku citing a recent Zenimax job listing, the iconic DOOM developer is currently working on an "unannounced game for future-generation consoles."
The successful applicant will need to be familiar with previous id products, but what he'll be working on is a mystery...or is it? Chances are, it's probably the long-awaited DOOM 4 or perhaps Quake 5. Those hoping for a sequel to last year's stellar RAGE (yeah, we say it was stellar) are going to have a long wait, as id Software boss John Carmack said they wouldn't deliver RAGE 2 until DOOM 4 was out the door. ...looooong wait.
There have been rumors about the possible existence of DOOM 4, which seems to be the most likely candidate right now. Remember that the DOOM 3 BFG Edition is coming to current consoles on October 16. That could be a hint, don't you think?

Doom was... Good, by all means, but the Doom setting has been exploited by pretty much every second shooter since the first Doom (well, not literary but you know what I mean).
Rage, although one can say it had Borderlands written all over it, is still unique.

there is no way in hell doom 4 is going to be a next gen title!
every quakecon id has said will be finally showing doom 4 next quakecon.

next quakecon comes sorry its still not ready next quakecon.
rinse and repeat!
john will have his head on a platter if he turns up to quakecon this year and does not show off doom 4!
and there is no way in hell there going to show off a game before the system its releasing on is even announced!
most likely will be a new quake game.
id say RAGE 2, but in a interview recently john said we might see a new quake sooner than we think!
doom 4 next year, than quake probably 3 years after that, than finally RAGE 2!!!!!!!
id honestly rather RAGE, ive always loved quake but RAGE was such a awesome game!
especially its open world environments, and buggy driving what hooked me.

However, Quake 5 could be on the horizon as well. I am guessing Rage 2 will be PS4 material with real MP. I never got around to playing Rage, but picked it up 2 weeks ago for $10. Not worried about the sewers. If I love the game I will just pay the $10 for the sewers.

I have to say, Rage looks pretty dang nice on my desktop. Finally, now after about 7 months I can enjoy it =p
Mobile chipsets tend to be the red headed step child when it comes to PC gaming.
Anyway, I'm interested to see what game this is. I suspect it's Doom 4. I suspect also it'll launch first on PC. Perhaps something of a kiss and make up offering, because Carmack really shafted anal PC aficionados (all of 'em ;) with a botched launch and mountains of issues, clearly showing Carmack's heart was no longer with his seeming paternal peers but instead with those confederate console gamers ;)
