Max Payne Comes To PS4 On April 22

"Einstein was right. Time is relative to the observer. When you're looking down the barrel of a gun, time slows down. Your whole life flashes by, heartbreak and scars. Stay with it, and you can live a lifetime in that split second." ― Max Payne

Max Payne was one of my favorite action games back then. I played the original Max Payne on my PC, I never tried the PS2 version of it. I love the bullet time feature of the game. I remember that I literally abused the bullet time while using all my available weapons to kill my enemies. Aahh molotov cocktail madness! Since then, I've been a fan of the series and I've played all the succeeding games; Max Payne 2, and the most recent Max Payne 3.

Well, it seems that the original Max Payne game will be coming to PS4. In the European PlayStation Blog’s latest PlayStation Store update post, they revealed that the PS2 game Max Payne is coming to PS4 on Friday, April 22, in Europe. A North American release date wasn’t given, but past PS2 games on PS4 have released around the same time in both regions.

Since this is the second time the EU Blog has listed Max Payne for PS4, someone asked if this time it was real. Sony’s Francesca Mead replied, “It’s on its way :).”

The first Max Payne title was released back in 2001 for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC. The title was developed by Remedy Entertainment which subsequently sold the rights to this franchise to Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar. The latest game in the series, Max Payne 3, arrived on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2012. Last month, Remedy said that they believed that they could create a "cool" new entry if Rockstar ever offered them the opportunity to return to the series.

Max Payne coming to PS4 is good, but I also prefer a new entry on the series. I know Rockstar is probably busy on developing Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto VI, but a Max Payne 4 announcement from Rockstar for the PS4 will also make it as one of the most anticipated games for this generation. What do you think guys?

It will be interesting to see just how long they stick with this, releasing PS2 games & sprucing them up to HD with added trophy support.

I won't be too invested in the idea unless i start seeing some rare games of worth start appearing. I'm talking about games like The Getaway, Freedom Fighters, XIII, Forbidden Siren & some of Capcom's forgotten gems like Clock Tower 3 & Haunting Ground.

Onimusha should have been first out of the blocks for this considering it never got the HD trilogy it so richly deserves. Instead we're getting Rockstar's backlog. Manhunt next?

Manhunt is already there as a poopy download so it's probably not a big priority.

I freaking love this series, but mostly for the story. I last replayed the first one in anticipation of '3', and I was surprised at how clunky and basic most of the gameplay is. The story and characters totally hold up, even rival the best of what's offered now. But I think the first two games, and especially the first, need more than just a new coat of polish.

That being said, I'll probably buy this irregardless.

I know, it really got super clunkified. Somehow it felt all smooth and revolutionary back then. This needs updated controls like tank games do.

Remedy last games Alan Wake (360) and Quantum Break (Xbox-one) still have those clunky controls it's like a signature of them lol

Not, Remedy didn't work on Max Payne 3, they sold the franchise after Max Payne 2.

If there's ever a 4 I hope they go back to the dark winter of New York. The last one was good, they made it work, but they made it work right on the edge of almost not working. Like killing zombies in the daylight, only some games can do it.

As far as PS2 games go, I'd like to see the whole dang thing spruced up but all JRPGs first. We need Xenosagas and Star Ocean III (with the difficulty altered), and some others. Then Darkwatch, then Matrix: Path of Neo, then anything else getting a sequel on PS4...

It is, it has to be since they are emulating the PS2 iteration on the PS4.
