Rumored inFAMOUS Lightning Edition A Fake?

So, it seems that the Amazon listing purporting to be for an inFAMOUS remaster was probably faked.

Like many we reported this listing yesterday, and even if it does trn out to be completely fake, the discussion of a possible inFAMOUS remaster did raise an interesting point; Does remastering PS3 games for PS4 actually make much sense?

Photoshopped?

fakery

Remastering titles from the PS2 generation makes some sense because there is a huge leap in quality, and the hardware available now can accomplish things that could not be done during the PS2 generation. Ratchet and Clank is a pretty good example of this.

Remastering from the PS3 on the other hand, is a bit different. Most PS3 games rendered above 720p, used HD textures and various advanced lighting effects and post production effects. The Uncharted Collection is a great example of this, showing that even a 'stellar' PS3 game can significantly benefit from apearing on the PS4.

So, it seems very likely that the inFAMOUS Lightning Edition might be a fake, but what if it's not?  What if Sucker Punch and Sony see sufficient interest in this story to suggest real interest in a remastered inFAMOUS.

Would you buy that remaster? What are the pros and cons of remastering PS3 titles from your point of view?

Hoaxers should be tracked down and made to play Haze for 3 days non-stop, or until they beg forgiveness, whichever comes first.

Kind of funny because just this morning I was thinking how much I miss the original inFamous and wish Sucker Punch would announce a new one (I didn't see the news from yesterday about the Lightning Edition). I enjoyed Second Son but it just wasn't the same without Cole. I would definitely buy and replay the originals with a smile on my face!

Well that's a definite gut punch. The original Cole was the man. That Kessler fight was memorable

I know right? People forgot all about how great a superhero story that was while I tried to defend Cole and they were saying Delsin was an actual contender. Dude has already been forgotten, his story wasn't anything.

I know, it makes me want to crank the PS3 back up and replay...if I didn't already have a game backlog and an MMORPG sub/addiction to handle.

Why choose? I'll take a infamous with Cole and Delsin fighting side by side.

Loved the first one a lot. I was literally one, ONE, power shard away from my plat when my HDD got corrupted and I had to play through most of the story to unlock the whole map again, then find all the damn things again. Love cloud back ups now, lol.

Haha, love the Haze punishment. They should then have to write a twenty page thesis on the relationship the protagonist has with Nectar.

I'm fine with remasters from the PS1 & PS2 as they would see massive improvements(so long as the devs wanted them to), but i'm not a fan of remastering PS3 to PS4 as the improvements are far less substantial.

I do believe there are some exceptions 1. being artistic games which could benefit from from better graphics 2. Games that were developed after the PS4 was announced as some of those were probably intended to be on the PS4 anyway (they just didn't have the dev kits available yet). 3. Games that were built for PSP or Vita as there are many titles that i wish had a console version(though a lot of work would be required).

Also love the punishment but i would extend it to a week so gamers could have their own version of hellweek.
