Atlus gives Persona 5 a date for Japan

Persona 5 has been given a concrete release date in Japan. The long awaited installment in the Persona series of JRPGs was due in 2016, and even had it's own count down site. Atlus has give the game a release date for Japan, September 15th 2016, as you can see here on the official website for Persona 5 in Japan.

Personal 5 also has it's own 30 minute Anime special and a special 20th anniversary special edition costing 138,000 yen, which will translate to about $140 if it comes west,  including a 'few' extras as you can see;

  • A copy of Persona 5
  • Persona 5 art book – B5 size hard-cover Shigenori Soejima-illustrated special binding
  • Persona 20th Anniversary All-Time Best Album (five discs)
  • Disc 1: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona, etc.
  • Disc 2: Persona 2: Innocent Sin / Persona 2: Eternal Punishment
  • Disc 3: Persona 3 (FES), etc.
  • Disc 4: Persona 4 (The Golden), etc.
  • Disc 5: Persona 5
  • Special Collaboration DLC Set #1: “Orpheus Picaro” and “Izanagi Picaro” Personas and special skill set
  • Special Collaboration DLC Set #2: Persona 3 “Gekkoukan High School Uniform” costumes and Persona 3 battle BGM single set
  • Special Collaboration DLC Set #3: Persona 4 “Yasogami High School Uniform” costumes and Persona 4 battle BGM single set
  • Shigenori Soejima-illustrated Special Custom Theme
  • Special Persona 5 Art treasure box

Western Gamers are still looking at a 2016 release date, the date could be anything including December 31st 2016.

Persona 5 is scheduled for an appearance at E3 this year, and a western release my be announced there. In the meantime, Persona fans can watch some video and keep their eyes on the Atlus English language home page for Persona 5

This second video is a staff interview, but you can see some game footage as the interviewees talk over the video.

All in all, the game looks great, a treat for Persona and JRPG fans alike.  Persona 5 arrives in Japan on September 15, 2016, with a specific western release date to be announced.

WELL THANK GOD! After ten thousand years and a bunch of worthless games (not Catherine that was awesome). I can't wait for it to come to America and other places outside its Home for us true blue turn based JRPG nutcases!

They will rue the day they took this gameplay away from us. All must fall in line and support Persona's epicness with a day 1 purchase if you can even remotely afford it (and I only can in theory) or I will personally pee in your coffee.

I am definitely looking forward to this and i even hope that special edition gets released outside Japan, i rarely buy or care for special editions but that one looks awesome.

Wow 15 days before FFXV - ATLUS is going for it.

I'm excited for both - but I know that PERSONA 5 will definitely be the better "RPG."
