Hideo Kojima's Next Game is Not a Horror Game

In a recent interview with Famitsu, Hideo Kojima talked briefly about his newest project. And unfortunately it is not a new horror game. If you missed that whole fiasco about the Silent Hills cancelation  (Really? Where have you been?), Hideo Kojima was teaming up with movie legend Guillermo Del Toro to create the newest Silent Hill game. It was super exciting until Konami decided to pull the plug.

Hideo Kojima is showing interest in still working Guillermo Del Toro even if wouldn’t be a Silent Hill game. But that’s pretty much the last we have heard about that collaboration. There are still hopes out in the community that this kind of thing will still happen but that is not going to be Kojima’s next game.

As stated in the Famitsu interview his next game is going to be an action game:

"It’s an amazing game. We’re thinking about everything all at once, including the plot, characters, and game systems. Since certain parts are fairly new, we cannot help but experiment."

While not to say that it’s open-world, users who enjoy today’s AAA games (The Division and Uncharted, etc.) will be able to easily enjoy it. When it is announced, you might think ‘that’s not that outstanding,’ but you’ll understand when you see it and play it. The genre is action.”

There you have it. It's an action game. This doesn't give us a whole to go on though. Is it a shooter? Or an adventure game? Or something else? We won't know much more until more news comes out.

I can’t help but feel a little disappointed (adding on the disappointment already there of course) but I’ve no doubt that his newest game is going to be pretty cool. It is Hideo Kojima after all. Pretty much anything he does should be awesome. I’m still holding out hope that the aforementioned collaboration will come to fruition someday though. I was so excited for Silent Hills. It looked so promising.

Either way, we definitely have something to look forward to. Keep an eye out for more news on Kojima’s latest project. What do you think? Are you excited? Or are you let down?

Well, fudge.
I don't want another open world game like all the rest :( I know scary games aren't for everyone, but I feel like a great AAA psychological horror game is really needed these days. At least break up the monotony.
Kojima and Del Toro could have done this so well. I'll keep up hope, and keep replaying PT.

As I'm a chicken to horror games, this is better news for me. Sorry/not sorry.
