Final Fantasy VII Remake, Kingdom Hearts III Not Releasing Before April 2017

Square-Enix is really taking their time in making their games.

Final Fantasy VII and Kingdom Hearts III won’t be releasing this year, or even by the end of March 2017, as confirmed by Square Enix. During an earnings presentation today, the publisher listed all major titles scheduled for release before the end of the current fiscal year (March 2017). Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake were both absent from the list. World of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, on the other hand, will be releasing before the end of this year.

You could see below the major titles that Square Enix will release before March 2017.

  • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - August 23, 2016
  • Final Fantasy XV - September 30, 2016
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider - Holiday 2016
  • World of Final Fantasy - 2016
  • Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue - 2016
  • SaGa SCARLET GRAVE - 2016 (Japan)

Kingdom Hearts III was first announced in 2013, and now it looks like we won’t be seeing it any time before the end of 2016. The same can be said for Final Fantasy VII. We got a look at its remake trailer back in June 2015, where it was said that we would be getting to play the game in December 2015. Instead we got a gameplay video showing us how the combat system would play out. Final Fantasy XV is one major title by Square Enix which is releasing on the PS4 and Xbox One on September 30, this year. A demo by the name of Platinum Demo is out for the game, and should be played by all if they’re considering getting the final build. This demo will unlock a very special summon in the game, if you manage to complete it.

I'm not surprised that we won't see the release of FFVII remake and Kingdom Hearts III within this fiscal year, given the history of Square Enix of having a LONG development time in making their games. Hell, it took them a decade in making FFXV. I'm just glad that Star Ocean 5 will be released next month, and FFXV is coming 3 months after Star Ocean 5. I can wait for FFVII Remake and Kingdom Hearts III. Let's just hope that the long wait for those two games won't get us disappointed once they arrive next year.

Still a long way off considering I don't expect much from FFXV.

World, how can you like a crappy action rpg niche game like Nights of Azure, but hate the action in FFXV?

You must be desperate to compare Nights of Azure, a game with a budget so small that the coffee those idiots at Square Enix drink is much highter.Give Gust just half of the budget of XV and then we can have a fair comparison.

I'm not very fond of the action in Nights, but I do like the storytelling. Can't say if I like it enough to finish it though.

I dont think anyone with an IQ over 10 thought FF7 or KH3 where coming out this year (or the beginning of next year). Thats hardly news worthy lol

Any dev worth half their words could have had it one or the first episode of the other ready by now since its been forever and developed on a poopy engine on a shoestring budget next to FFXV.

except with SEs track record of releasing games (FFXV), and all the delays that have been common this gen and the end of last, not to mention all the devs that announce games LONG before theyre ready, anyone with a brain will automatically assume that any game that is announced with no release date isnt coming out for at LEAST 3 years from that announcement dare, until the devs say otherwise.

So yes no one realistically expected o play KH3 this year (especially with KH2.8 not even out yet) or FF7 remake this year.

Ever since Square Enix came to be - they've always taken looooooooads of time making their games - primarily because they actually have the teams working on many other things which have not been announced in public.

I'm expecting like Mid 2018 to be honest.

We're defs getting 2.8 this year so SE would a really cool, generous company if KH3 was also around the bend.

This goes back to me saying last years Sony E3 was seriously lacking and was a lot of smoke and mirrors.

I don't think anyone is too surprised that FFVII is a long way off still but along with The Last Guardian (where's that at?) , Sony really were stretching last year for a good showing.

Hopefully this year they'll have a good show with some games we might actually have a chance to see turn up.

Square need to get the finger out. But I can't get too mad at them as long as Deus Ex Mankind Divided turns up on time and lives up to the last game's awesomeness.
