Watch Dogs To Sell 6 Million, Limited Edition Announced

New IPs can be a tough sell but when they're as anxiously anticipated as Watch Dogs, sales expectations will be high.

After successfully exciting the hell out of everyone at E3, Ubisoft has upped their sales estimates for Watch Dogs. The publisher now expects it to sell around 6.2 million copies, which would be a little better than the original Assassin's Creed.

Said a Ubisoft director:

"What is true is that three months ago when we announced our results, we were kind of referencing that we, in our plan, we had built up Watch Dogs with expectation slightly below what Assassin's Creed 1 did when it was first released--and it was 6.2 million. So after E3, what we said today was that we do feel that we can expect…slightly above the 6.2 million that Assassin's Creed did."

They also revealed a special Limited Edition, which will retail for $130. This will include a steelbook case, 9" Aiden Pearce statue, a vigilante mask, the official soundtrack and an 80-page artbook. Sounds like a worthy addition to your collection! Watch Dogs launches on November 19 for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. The PS4 and Xbox One versions will be launch titles for their respective systems. I want the next-gen version, damnit.

6.2 million... While it does look like a good game. What did Ubisoft do? Borrow the same guy that makes up the sales expectations for Square-Enix?

This game just does not look appealing to me at all.

I'm getting tired of all of these Limited and Collector's Editions of games ranging between $130 and $160 anymore.

I guess while I am finishing up getting my RN schooling done over the next two years I'll just have to be happy with the $60 versions of next-gen games and be glad I have a PS4 and games for it at all.

That seems... insane. Maybe they are hoping that a lot of people will get it for PS3/360 and then get the PS4/X180 versions too.

I mean it looks cool and all but that's nuts.

But if the first AC sold that number then why is it insane to expect this from Watch Dogs the hype around them is comparable?

Everyone and their grandparents are talking about Watch Dogs. That's something we don't often see prior to the launch of a new IP.
I think it sounds like Ubisoft got their reasoning straight.

I think AC was lightning in a bottle and despite the chatter it's pretty hard to do that twice. Looks like GTA for hackers, I'm not sure that's gonna fly. Even the most popular of the most popular have trouble hitting those numbers out of the gate. Ubi might be a little complacent with these number expectations.

You basically you have to have a decent job to own all these limited/collector's editions coming out. Lol.
