Nomura: Kingdom Hearts III Is The End, But Not Really

We've tried to be patient in waiting for Kingdom Hearts III. Now, it's finally coming.

The interesting part is that series director Tetsuya Nomura says the third official sequel is the conclusion of the current long-standing battle. However, that doesn't mean the series is done. In speaking to the L.A. Times, he said loose ends will be tied up in KHIII:

"In Kingdom Hearts 3, the battles that the characters have been fighting for the past 10 years will come to a conclusion. But the series will continue. Only the particular enemy they have been fighting for the past 10 years will come to an end."

He also added some new gameplay-related tidbits. For instance, the development team is currently using the combat mechanic from Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance as a "guide" for the fighting in KHIII. Also, he didn't specify which guest characters we might see this time around, but there's a possibility that popular names from the Pixar or Star Wars universes could be featured.

Those who are familiar with the series know that in the past, the franchise has played host to iconic Disney characters such as Ariel ("The Little Mermaid"), Peter Pan ("Peter Pan"), Jiminy Cricket ("Pinocchio") and others.

Who will we see next?

Of course they can't end it when the story's over. Oh no, this cow must be milked until they completely run out of ideas, the series has been run into the ground, and the name is worth nothing.

You can't EXACTLY talk about milking a cow, when the game hasn't had any sequels on consoles since the PS2...... and the HD remake of the original is only JUST coming out now.

I didn't mean they're milking it right now (not much, anyway), I mean they won't just let the series end on a high note as it should. I want to remember KH as an awesome series from start to finish (hoping, of course, that KHIII is as good an ending as it should be), not a series that started great then turned to crap.

This is kind of old news, at least for me. I already knew the series would continue, and this would be the last game in this story arc. As for who I want to see, I don't really care; surprise me.

For the FF side, Preeety sure they're going to put Lightning on there, although I'd like to see more of the FF classic characters make a cameo. I still remember having a blast with Auron on KHII. Maybe they could add Rikku or Lulu from FFX or Barret or Red from VII.

Now from the other side... Well Disney owns the rights for a lot of characters from Star Wars AND Marvel, but I don't know how well would they fit on KH... then again before KH the idea of Donald Duck and Goofy fighting alongside FF characters was ludicrous, so I guess we'll have to wait and see...

I think the star wars universe would fit in so well. The sith is just the perfect representation of a heartless, and the jedi follow similar honor codes as the keyblade warriors of the light or whatever.

Im excited for this game I just hope it builds off of what made the first two games so memorable.
