PS4 Friends List Will Be Twice The Limit Of Xbox One's List

Hope you've got a lot of virtual friends so you can take advantage of this news.

During a PlayStation Access video, Sony confirmed that the friends list for the PlayStation 4 will be double that of the Xbox One; the PS4 will support 2,000 friends while Microsoft's system will only allow for 1,000.

Right now, the maximum number of friends you can have for the PS3 and Xbox 360 is the same (100). Obviously, both companies are ramping things up in the new generation, as multiplayer and "social gaming" will be bigger than ever. We also learn that the PS4 will support party chat as well, and you'll be able to use your existing PSN IDs and avatars. Oh, and as if it's any surprise, the PS4 will be available in "jet black" color when it launches. You know, one of these days, console manufacturers will figure out that we like color options.

We have yet to receive an exact launch date for the PS4 or Xbox One, but it's widely assumed both will hit in November.

I think consoles should be like car models, sold with more options (extra memory slots, sports suspension, intercoolers, colors).

Good news on the friends list I guess, I only have a handful of PSXE people on mine, plus my brother and bff. I shoot people a message now and then, I'm gonna spam my one friend with videos of every awesome thing I do in a games since I can't get the f*cker to play more than 1 game per year.

2000 friends? Wow. My list on the PS3 is maxed and over the years I have had to delete plenty of people so I could replace them with someone from the here and now.

I will appreciate the expanded list, but I will never get near the limit of people.

I called the no plus for free to play. I am really really worried that games this gen are going to start with the FB style Free to Pay. Where the game is free but it takes such a rediculous amount of time to do anything so you PAY to speed it up, or all the powerful stuff has to be bought from their game mall... Like it really scares me... DLC prices are running rampant, Devs are money hungry scumbags, I honestly don't know if I'm willing to go through that in the next gen... I mean, Paying for something that is already on the disc? Scumbag tactics...

I'm not too worried about it, thing as simple as online passes were tried and dropped due to customer disapproval. Customers won't go for normal games being free to play so it won't happen, it's best for stuff like DC Universe I bet that's where it stays.

And not all devs are using DLC to hurt you.

It seems like every game now has DLC that costs $$. I think it's horrible. What happened to the days when you only had pay for a game once because what was on the disc is what you got. It didn't cost $15.00 to unlock a couple of characters or maps or outfits or weapons. Why? Because it all was on the disc. Hell you didn't even have to pay $0.01 for anything like that. It's not even about "well some dlc only costs a couple of bucks". That's not the point. Point is why are we having shell out so much extra money for games that are "complete"?.

IMHO, Sony shouldn't tell and yell everything they've got, at least, not yet.

They should keep some things to themselves until a big show or almost launch because with this news, it´s probably tomorrow or the day after, the scumbags @ Micro$oft give a similar story, with the same or more amount of friends. Anyways, these moves they make, makes them look more desperate and foolish, not to say liars.

Or other option should be, if they think it is a good feature that is worth it, make with it a big propaganda. But again, in this scenario, M$oft would come out saying desperate things trying to equalize it.

Please clarify for me... so my ps3 name will never be taken from me on the ps4 bc it's tied to my ps account right? So if I can't get a ps4 for say 6 months, I can still log in with my email and my name will be there?

That sounds logical to me but I remember being worried when the ps3 came out...only to not be able to use my name Taintlicious.

Thank you and Stay Classy PSX...

That is correct. The PSN accounts are not limited to one platform/generation.

It's the only sensible thing to do, really.

Sony opened up PSN account registrations about 6 months before the PS3 launched. I had my name secured weeeeeelllllllll before I actually got my PS3.

Honestly, I am hoping that Sony adopts modern Online handle usage, and let's us have the ability to change our PSN ID's, especially since our personal information is now becoming the main form of identification on PSN.

I am fine with Akuma, but I would really prefer to use something that is more personalised and meaningful now. I DID make that name nearly 8 years ago.

Nearly every online game I play let's you change your display name, even at a cost sometimes, which is fine.

As long as I can limit and separate my friends into categories then this will be OK. I do not wish to flood Facebook with my gaming friends or vice versa. I also hope they allow us to sync account with other social networks such as twitter and Google Plus.

I used these social networks only to keep tabs on others. I have virtually zero information attached and set all settings to private. Or as private as can be considering how connected everything is nowadays. Categories on PSN will allow me to keep these accounts in check.

Well I only have about 15 friends on my ps3 and I'll probably have less than that on ps4 just because some of my current friends are family who only recently got a ps3.

I'm just not an online social gamer, you want to play MP games with me, come to my house and we'll game for hours. You want to trash talk me, do it to my face, not to my earpiece.

I HATE it when companies focus on the really DUMB questions that have already been answered!

"What colour is the PS4 at launch"
Oh....its brown. Like seriously?!

Ask some real questions, like, will we be able to change our PSN ID's this time around?

or

Will cross generation play be possible?

I follow the Bungie Destiny Mail sack on a weekly basis for hopes of Destiny news, but every single week more than half of the mail sack answers are just dumb questions.
