PS4 Demand To "Significantly Outstrip Supply" In UK

We've said before that Sony's biggest hurdle this holiday season will involve PlayStation 4 availability. It's critical.

After all, regardless of popularity, the thing can't sell if there aren't any in stores. Analysts have said to expect shortages, which isn't any surprise, but Sony really needs to crank out as many units as possible.

However, there may already be signs of an impending worldwide shortage: According to CVG, Sony has imposed a limit on PS4 pre-orders in the UK. Basically, they say that any orders placed after Monday of next week won't likely be fulfilled on launch day, "due to intense demand." Therefore, if you're in the UK and you want Sony's new console this year, we suggest you act now. The report adds that "demand is expected to significantly outstrip supply."

This deadline may be imposed across all of Europe, but we're hoping it's not the case here in the US. Remember when Sony was forced to cut day-one launch shipments in half for the PS3? And the numbers were already pitifully low...let's hope that doesn't happen again.

I wonder if they just didn't expect so many gamers to jump off Microsoft's Titanic or what.

I think that might be the case. Since Microsoft nearly suicided at E3 and with Sony doing the exact opposite of them and being able to sway gamers, I think Sony is kind of in a "panic mode" to try to get as much out as possible. Also, with PS4 news gaining steam again, they're probably trying to stretch themselves to the absolute limit. "Bend, but don't break" mindset.

EB Games in Australia has listed the PS4 as "Not guaranteed for launch day availability" on their website now. While the Xbox One still has "Xbox One Day One edition" available.

Lol. And since EB is owned by Gamestop, you can say for sure that they would be getting the lions share of consoles in Australia.

Lucky for me I pre-ordered with EB an hour after the PS4 was announced. Yeww.

And Sony has yet to reveal all the other new IP's and unannounced exclusives in Gamescom. Sony better manufacture a whole lot of PS4's

I have also heard in the past that there may be a shortage of controllers at launch, so if you guys want an additional controller, pre-order now.

It seems as though supplies will definitely run dry on day one. Which sucks. But I suppose it can be expected. Pre-orders are already MUCH higher than the current gen's launch.

But how long after launch should we expect to wait before a new batch hits the shores? Is it like a month or two, or merely a week?
Anyone have any knowledge about this from earlier launches?

Dude, stop giving yourself an upvote each time you post. It only makes all other single upvotes look like they are done by the poster.
