PS4 Demand To "Significantly Outstrip Supply" In UK
We've said before that Sony's biggest hurdle this holiday season will involve PlayStation 4 availability. It's critical.
After all, regardless of popularity, the thing can't sell if there aren't any in stores. Analysts have said to expect shortages, which isn't any surprise, but Sony really needs to crank out as many units as possible.
However, there may already be signs of an impending worldwide shortage: According to CVG, Sony has imposed a limit on PS4 pre-orders in the UK. Basically, they say that any orders placed after Monday of next week won't likely be fulfilled on launch day, "due to intense demand." Therefore, if you're in the UK and you want Sony's new console this year, we suggest you act now. The report adds that "demand is expected to significantly outstrip supply."
This deadline may be imposed across all of Europe, but we're hoping it's not the case here in the US. Remember when Sony was forced to cut day-one launch shipments in half for the PS3? And the numbers were already pitifully low...let's hope that doesn't happen again.
