Rumor: PS4/Vita Bundle Hits This Holiday Season For $500

Now this is exactly the kind of bundle Sony needs.

We've said before at PSXE that Sony should produce a bundle package that includes the upcoming PlayStation 4 and the new portable, the PlayStation Vita. Now, according to a new report from Inside Gaming Daily, that bundle is on the way. And such a deal!

A "well-placed anonymous source" said we can expect the package to be available at the end of 2013, and it would retail for "around $500." Sony hasn't officially announced any such bundle but it's be great to have for the holidays. Remember, the PS4 and Vita have all sorts of connectivity bonuses, such as Remote Play and the ability to use the handheld as a second-screen device. Right now, the 3G-enabled Vita sells for $299 and the Wi-Fi Vita goes for $249.99; neither has dropped in price since launching in February of 2012.

The PS4 will have a price tag of $399, so putting the two units together for only $500 sounds like a damn good deal, yes?

The phrase "too good to be true" comes to mind.

Sounds like a great deal, but I just don't see Sony doing discounts that big this soon - though they SHOULD. It would truly help both the PS4 and the Vita (especially Vita) to really market these as both separate AND companion devices.

Heck, they should have done that more with the PS3 and Vita.

I would buy it in a heartbeat I just think it's too good to be true. This would be huge for the Vita though, fingers crossed!

Before bundling PS4/Vita together Sony should focus on games for Vita its seriously lacking in that department. Most of the games are either ports with added content or games on PS3 now thats all good but Vita Needs exclusives to truly shine.

That would be a $150 savings! That sounds waaayy to cheap, though it will help the Vita sell more.
I could maybe see a $50 bundle savings, or even $100 but $150 seems like too good to be true deal.
Regardless I already have both (PS4 release day pre-ordered)so this bundle wouldn't help me.

I remain ever-so incredulous.
Even so, such an announcement would be ill-timed. It would miss out on all of us who've pre-ordered the PS4 already.

They need some kind of price cut to increase the Vita adoption rate, but there's no way they'd take that much of hit to make it happen.

Thinking optimistically, the vita price cut is due, Sony might just drop vita prices during ps4 launch. For $500 you get XBox One with kinect, and PS4 wtih Vita. With mandatory remote-play, the PS4-Vita bundle makes way more sense. Anyway, I am going back to college, and shall have no money for the next 2 years. :(

This may increase Vita users and thus making devs want to create more titles forthe Vita. Or it can be totally oposite.. "why should we create games for PSV, when you can just play ps4 titles remotely".

wouldent it be funny if $ony restricted the numbers of ps4 standard systems, and send out many fold more bundle systems as a sneaky way to trick people into buying the vita?
knowing $ony, would not surprise me!

Yeah it would be HILARIOUS lol... Then the world would come one step closer to your twisted views :D

This has nothing to do with anything but by sharing your negative view you made me think that we should really do something about feminism and *white knights*. They are starting to thread on our gaming freedom and are trying to impose their values on publishers. I think that is a much more serious problem. Any 1 has a plan?

If I can get confirmed that remote play will be 100% supported for all titles, no exceptions or technical reservations, then I'd buy this.

I had thought Sony would do a bundle like this, but at 500 dollars, the price just seems a little low to me. Do we even know if Sony is selling the PS4 below cost?

3G Vita and Walking Dead bundle to be released later this month for $199.

Looks like price cut is finally on the way.

That is an amazing deal and I hope it's true for all of those gamers that don't already have a Vita. This would raise awareness and hopefully bring more games to the Vita. All though I have never been in the camp that thinks there aren't enough games for the Vita. This would certainly help.

Also it makes me very confident that the Remote Play is going to perform as promised. If true this destroys the XBone and Kinect. It would make a ton of Xbots think twice. I am really excited for the PS4 generation Sony. They just seem more focused and cannot make a bad decision. Well done!

Sony should do this. It does seem too cheap, but let's looks at it this way. The PS4 is the Vita's last chance for survival. It's already 2 years old and not doing too great. Maybe they're planning to drop the Vita price to 200, that would make the 500 price more believable

I'm pretty sure the bundle is real, because it makes too much sense. That price would be a -godsend-, though I'm not sure if Sony's willing to take that much of a hit on Vita hardware. But if Sony drops Vita to US199, I could see this bundle for US$549.

I'm excited at such a bundle, but I probably wouldn't buy it, to be honest. Mainly because I need a Vita sooner (DRAGON'S CROWN!) rather than later, and I won't have a real need for a PS4 until after FFXV drops (not likely before the end of 2014). Not unless Capcom changes their mind and releases Ultra SFIV for PS4 early next year - which I *still* think is a possibility, but they haven't announced anything, and I'm not picking up the PS4 until 1) I get an official release date for a game I want and 2) it's close to said release date.

Still excited at such a bundle though! I think it would definitely move plenty Vita units. Remote Play has to be virtually flawless though.

It surprises me how some gamers are so out of touch with basic things.

PS4 will launch at $400.
PSVita is currently $250.
This deal is $500.
PSVita will probably get a price drop of $50 (or more) before PS4 launches.
That means you save $100 with this bundle.

How is saving $100 on a deal impossible to believe when you're suppose to save a decent amount of money on a deal for it to even be considered a deal.

If true, Sony might as well just sell Vita for $100 anyway. $150 for 3G. Bound to boost.
