Naughty Dog Working On PS4 Title?
We've often wondered which of the first-party Sony studios might be working on games for the next generation; i.e., the PlayStation 4.
And we had certainly hoped Naughty Dog would be one of the first teams to start looking forward. The good news is that according to a job listing for a Character Artist, Naughty Dog is definitely looking into the upcoming generation. The successful applicant will help create "next-gen games" and will also be responsible for making "million-poly models game-ready." If you're wondering, the number of polygons in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves characters was around 80,000.
We have no idea what this mystery project could be, but we're definitely excited. How can we not be? The premier cutting-edge developer of this generation working on something for future technology? A million polygons per character? Heck, and we thought The Last Of Us was something pretty damn amazing.
There's only one thing left to do at this point: wait for Sony to unveil the PS4. ...can't be too far off.

1080p is already 2 MPixels, and a multi-million polygon model may still only render several hundred thousand polygons at a time even when filling the screen because the entire model is never visible at once. So even though it might have 3 million polygons in the model, they're not all visible. Also, the rendering engine may render polygons below the pixel resolution of the display, but when the image is finally constructed and filtered, the final image will be 1080p. The additional polygon count simply adds to the quality of the final image.

The multi-million polygon won't be shown all at once. Probably half-million are used for the face and another 200k used for the hair on the back of the hair. You cannot see both front and back of the character at one time.

I dont know why but the whole game started to feel boring to me. Why do i have to kill 50 militants in a confined space every 10 minutes. And the climbing was so easy, just keep spamming the button until im where im supposed to get to.
Im very glad theyre working on a new game thats as they say very different from uncharted, gameplay wise.

I'm personally excited for new hardware, as long as naughty dog adds new gameplay elements alongside more powerful systems. I'll admit (I know some
of us are thinking the same thing), while uncharted 3 was one of the best games I played last year, it felt a little formulaic. Hopefully new hardware will inspire developers to push the boundaries whether in cinematics or gameplay.

Really, the only problem I'm seeing right now for the PS4 is a possible lack of launch exclusives besides Uncharted. The only other ones that will conceivably be done for launch are Killzone 4 (you know GG's gotta be working on it after that crappy cliffhanger) and LBP3.
Other than that, it looks like GoW IV is on the fast track for this gen, The Last Guardian is pretty much dead, Resistance is pretty much dead, and MGS5 (even though I don't want it) is probably still a ways off from being announced. So I hope Sony can scrounge up enough exclusives for the launch, although I'm pretty sure Uncharted could carry the system all by itself for at least a little while if they really needed it to.

i really am worried ND will do the same mistake they did this gen.
ie bite off way more then they can chew, end up releasing a year late and with a really buggy unfinished product just like they did the original uncharted.
thed be much better off doing what everyone else does, and just get a game out first to learn the system then reach for the stars!
no point trying to win gold in the olympics marathon if you dont even know how to walk yet!

But will it be another new IP? Or one of the two from this genreation.
