Capcom: Deep Down Is Only On PS4

Originally showed off during the PlayStation Meeting in February, Capcom's Deep Down is very promising.

It has also been rumored that it will be exclusive to Sony's platform, although many have assumed the game will go multiplatform. Recently, Capcom boss Yoshinori Ono confirmed via Twitter that Deep Down is indeed only for PS4.

In response to a question, he said simply:

"Deep down on PS4. we dont have it for X1."

Of course, that doesn't mean that Deep Down won't eventually be available on the Xbox One. Capcom has a history of turning exclusives into multiplatform offerings, given enough time. Then again, don't forget that they've got Dead Rising 3, which will release exclusively for Microsoft's next-gen system. So, maybe they get DR3 and we get Deep Down, which seems like a decent trade for PlayStation aficionados. Me, I'm not big into MMOs - which is what Deep Down sounds like - so I don't really care, but you never know... If it's good enough, I might play.

Yeah I can't get on board with an MMO either. I'm sure we will see a special Dead Rising 3 later on. Deep Down may need to be beta tested on one console first like Titanfall.

It could also be that they know nobody will buy an X1 in Japan and that might be their starting market.

Please don't let this be purely an MMO. If it is, then I don't think it's a fair tradeoff with Dead Rising. Plus MMOs are not really known to push hardware and I want this game to look as the teaser did in February.

Timed.

Have no idea what the concept is about anymore. Looked cool with the stealthy dragon encounter - but now the MMO aspect :O

Expect Deep Down X Dragon's Dogma, and then Dragon's Dogma X Deep Down, and then Deep Down Further X Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen :)

I'm more interested in Capcom's new directions and if Microsoft will force their way into Japanese market again. MS really ruined the JRPGs this gen.

I think MS learned their lesson trying to sell faulty hardware to Japan. It's just a shame we had to suffer the consequences to their actions. They lost money, we lost a whole genre.

Never mind! Just seen gameplay of Deep Down on SCEJ Press Conference today and I am excited!! Looks like Demon's Souls and a mix of Dragon's Dogma, also has Ancient/fantasy and modern settings, you guys really need to see the video for it.

Also Deep Down is "Unique to PS4" Exclusive! :D

Capcom has my attention.

eh, dont count your chickens till they hatch.
when we see a true return to form for RE, then we can say crapcom is back!
or maybe they will throw a unmarked briefcase at infune and will give him the rights to mega man.
then, and only then, can we say crapcoms back!

I don't think they mentioned it was an MMO, you can basically play offline (I think they said offline?), and go online with 4 friends.

so disappointed this is a MMO, it was looking SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool!
the reveal trailer is still probably THE best looking trailer weve seen, its actually the only game that made me sit back and say wow now thats next gen!
not quite as good as $Es luminous demos, but they were done on high end PCs so what do you expect?
dragons, fire, knight in armour, looked so freaking cool, and now its a MMO.
a massive sigh just befalled the crowd!
WTF is it with this industry and its OBSESSION with MMOs lately!?
christ, were turning into the PC industry!
PC architecture!
a heavy obsessive focus on being a media center.
a heavy obsessive focus on the indie scene.
and now every 2nd game announced is a frigging MMO!
whats next?
steam will be required for every ps4, xb1 game?
CD keys required to be entered, and you must install and activate every game?
you must update the game every single time you want to play it?
FUCK THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't get the Capcom is delving so deeply into exclusivity considering they were one of the first publishers to abandon it last gen. Uh, I'm not really interested in this one, not just because it's an online RPG (not strictly an MMO, based on what I'm seeing), but just because...

Cool that Capcom is doing an ambitious new IP, but.

Strong odds are that Ben's still asleep mate. Usual update time for the site is between midnight and 2 a.m. for me here on the east coast of Australia and it's only 7:15 p.m. now.

From what I've read so far the online seems closer to Monster Hunter than any normal MMO, which has me very intrigued.

With engineers from SCEJ being involved in the development of this game, exclusivity to the PS4 might be part of the agreement with Capcom. I don't think Sony would allow their engineers to help in a game that would eventually see the light of day in their competitor's console.

If this game becomes a success for Capcom, I could see them developing a sequel but it would no longer be exclusive to one platform. They own the IP and they'd sure like to make as much money as they can.

The bit about the game being online only has effectively put it on the backburner for me. I love playing games with my friends but it is not a necessity, particularly for RPGs. Maybe they should copy the drop-in co-op in Diablo III. Just a thought.
