Hyper Light Drifter Kickstarter Successful, Coming To PS4, Vita
Another retro title slated for the newest platforms! You gotta love the contrast there.
The Kickstarter campaign for Hyper Light Drifter has reached a new stretch goal, which means it will also be coming to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Anybody who pledged $15 or more can select the PS4 or Vita as their preferred platform, while those who offer $10 and up will have to choose between PC, Mac, or Linux. I think I'd go for the Vita version.
This is essentially an old-school RPG that blends the dungeon-crawling goodness of Diablo with the adventure elements of an "old-fashioned" The Legend of Zelda, and it looks like great fun. Thus far, the campaign has generated $231,879 from 9,894 supporters, and there are still 23 days left. They only needed $27,000 to make the game, but now it'll have a co-op campaign, a competitive multiplayer mode, two extra areas, and a full soundtrack from Disasterpiece. Things are going well!
And doesn't this prove widespread interest in so-called outdated forms of gameplay? I think it does.
