Analyst: Expect To See GTAV On PS4, Xbox One In 2014

Rockstar and Take-Two have said in the past that they have no plans to bring Grand Theft Auto V to next-gen consoles.

However, Robert W. Baird analyst Colin Sebastian believes otherwise. In a note to investors today, Sebastian said he fully expects to see the critically heralded title land on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2014. Excited much?

This would "help extend the value of the franchise," which makes perfect sense. Of course, it's hardly official until the developer or publisher confirms its existence, but it gives gamers hope, especially those who have already traded in their current consoles. As for the launch, GTAV netted $800 million in 24 hours, which Sebastian said qualifies as the "largest entertainment property launch in history."

Don't forget that the multiplayer component won't be available until October 1. ...as if that's any sort of detriment; the game is freakin' gigantic.

I think that's a no-brainer. PS4/XBox1 are 2 more reasons to print cash!

ive never seen such excitement for current gen games being made as next-gen games.

shouldnt a next-gen feel so huge people would sooner want to see fresh 'from-the-ground-up' games on their new "10x more powerful" console?

I also think anyone waiting to play this in hopes it comes to PS4 is setting themselves up to miss the game altogether, as the big next-gen undertakings will undoubtedly be revealed in the coming year or less, making last-gen stuff feel like.. last gen. Thus losing interest in the old game altogether.

I only suggest this because if this individual is SO invested in the techincal aspect of experiecing the game they'd likely lose interest when the tech no longer appears cutting edge.

This is GTA we talk about there. I can easily see myself firing up GTA:SA or VC again even though they are old.

I wait for GTA5 on the PS4 simply cause I don't want the game on a machine I'm going to ditch in a couple months time. This game is something I want to enjoy for months. So I don't care if there's not a pixel difference between the two versions.

I think Skyrim was the last game I could actually play for months.

If so, it's amazing that Rockstar has the power to keep a lid on leaks. Even I'm not so certain that it will happen anymore due to the lack of indication anywhere.

Rockstar has proven to be tight lipped earlier. And also keep in mind that a PS4/PC version is probably not on schedule until at *least* six months - probably even nine months - from now.

You know I did hear something about that, thankfully it won't be affecting their top properties like Persona 5.

i could see a GTA 5 Los Santos Stories happening next-gen or something like that, and I would also bet that they change way they do the "Stories" game (if they do one) because of the 3 character switch in the current game.

He's not the first "analyst" who says so. I know there's a handful on this site who's been saying the same for a while now. ;)

I am not a GTA fan by any means. I know a guy who has a friend that plays them. lol.

I tried GTA4 and it has been a wasted purchase for me. None of my friends want it nor are they fans. Its probably not a bad game, just nothing appealing to me.

The problem I think for me is the theme. If it were a sic-fi or maybe even fantasy like Skyrim or something on those lines... it might actually be fun for me.

Regardless, enjoy those that do love these games. I am sure there will be plenty of DLC for it in future and a GOTY edition. Might take a look at the whole franchise then when and if that comes out.

Keep playing!

I hope this is true. As much as I want to play this game now. My PS3 does not have enough hard drive space. I need to finish my back log of games before the PS4 arrives first. Once the emulation of PS3 and Vita games through the cloud happens in 2014 I can see GTA V being on that list.

Hopefully there's no extra cost $ for Ps4 version, no pint in having to pay additional for the same game and cost. A free upgrade would be great and the word would get around. Either way gaming is gaming and have fun! What it's all about! I get to finally play gtaV tomorrow on my days off, yes!

i really cant see GTAV coming to next gen.
hell even reading dans response to the question a few days ago, he was VERY careful how he answered it.
basically constantly saying we have no intention on bringing GTA to next gen because we cant work on 3 games at once.
ooooo, what was that?
3 games at once?
so what would the other 2 games be?
hmmmmmmmmm............
looks like the rumours of R* north working on a new IP for next gen are getting more and more believable by the day!
