Single-Player Data Won't Transfer Over For "Upgrade" Titles
Well, of course not. Who the heck cares about single-player, anyway? Nobody, right?
Some of the fall's biggest titles can eventually be upgraded if you so choose. Basically, if you buy a current-generation copy of a game like Call of Duty: Ghosts, you can later upgrade to the next-gen version for only $10. Publishers like Activision, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft are on board, but these upgrade deals are only available for a limited time (and they only pertain to digital copies).
There's another catch, too, as various representatives of the aforementioned companies confirmed with Kotaku: Single-player progress for Ghosts, Battlefield 4 and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will not carry over to the PS4 iteration when you upgrade. However, all multiplayer progress and previously purchased downloadable content will. Watch Dogs is another title on the list, but Ubisoft didn't say whether or not the campaign save progress would transfer over.
As far as I'm concerned, that's even less incentive to do this. Why not just wait a bit? Patience is a virtue.
