Bungie Warns Gamers To Look Out For Destiny Beta Scams

Where there is the potential for scams, unfortunately, you will always find scammers.

So, be careful not to get taken in. Bungie has revealed that participating retailers (like Amazon) will offer Destiny beta codes when customers pre-order the anticipated title.

But a few scam websites have popped up since, promising access to the upcoming beta test. Bungie made it plain on their Facebook page that you shouldn't let these cheaters get away with anything; just be smart about it:

"Don't let someone exploit your enthusiasm. The only way to guarantee a Beta code is to acquire one from a participating retailer. Accept no substitutes! Bogus websites are starting to spring up."

They did add that you might locate legitimate beta codes "elsewhere on the Internet," but just make sure that the source is trustworthy. That can be tricky, though, so we at PSXE recommend you keep it simple, and just pre-order Destiny from a retailer that will give you a code. The beta test will begin early next year on the PS3, Xbox 360, PS4 and Xbox One, but we're not yet sure which parts of the game we'll be testing.

Doesn't really matter, though, 'cuz it's always awesome when we get a chance to play potentially bad-ass games early.

But will the whole thing crash and fall apart like a Chinese motorcycle on launch?

Bungie said on their site that they are treating the Beta like a full product launch.

The Beta itself will include a large portion (perhaps all) of the game, and most of the modes that will be available at launch.
