New PS4 Live Action TV Ad: For The Players Since 1995

I still remember the day my friend brought home the original PlayStation on launch day. I also remember being very skeptical 'cuz it wasn't made by Nintendo or Sega.

Now, over 13 years later, PlayStation has become an iconic name in the world of video games and the fourth console is primed and ready to launch on November 15.

To celebrate Sony's dedication to gamers since 1995, they've released a new live action TV commercial for the PS4, which brings back a ton of memories. If you're one of those people who have owned every PlayStation system, you'll definitely appreciate it. I still think the dude needs to stop putting the console in the bedroom (like so many of us did when we were younger) and start putting it in the living room, the appropriate place for an entertainment hub.

But other than that, the commercial makes its point: PlayStation 4 The Gamers! Get it? Good slogan.

Yes the appropriate place for consoles is the bedroom. If you have an extra console that won't be used for offline multi-player games then it can be placed in the bedroom.

I don't think this commercial is implying that the PlayStation console in each scenario is the "extra" one.

Awesome the first sound I heard was the countdown from Gran Turismo. Man my life changed that year.

A really good advert... I can't help but get angry at how technically impressive adds are today...

Speaking of that, I now (again) wonder what the PS4 start up sound will be like.

Playstation One to this day is still the best sounding start up...and in the ad all the best nostalgia for myself anyways came from the PS1 sounds.

Be cool to be able to customise the start up sound. I'd definitely set it to the original again. It just has the 'prepare for awesomeness' sound to it!

I like these ads aimed at the gamers. I feel like I want to be a part of it and my first instinct is to share this ad with my friends.

Good job getting the right feeling, Sony!

Have to say the dude's pretty lucky to still have the same bedroom for all four consoles. Makes me want to fire up all the PS1 demos on the original console again.

Lol, what's also funny is they didn't seem to age other than the change of hairstyle and clothes lol. Around the PS1 days, I was in elementary lol. Now I'm in grad school. If you start at middle/high school, which this seems to indicate I expected them to be much older.

Not a big deal obviously but it's funny when you think about how long the Playstation brand has really been around, but the video doesn't show that as much with the actor's age progression. Had they show a young kid (like me!) and then grow up to mid 20s, I think it would make it slightly more nostalgic.

Did not see a wow cool factor for me. Seemed flat and no impact.

As for nastalgia... lol... I did not play any or those games, of what little they showed, to feel nastalgic.

Was this aimed of the UK audience specifically?

Anyway, sorry, did nothing for me.

Keep playing... keep watching!

You've never played Resident Evil 4? It's one of the most popular games from the last decade not to mention it's often duplicated by countless other games since its release.

Also you must not be a fan of Playstation otherwise you would have felt something. Which makes me wonder why you're even here.

I played RE 1,2 and definitely disappointed with 5 and did not finish it...did not like any of them. They were gifts from ... ugh... friends. Silent Hill series was my thing, including Spyro and Syphonfilter.R&C, J&D, Sly Cooper, ICO, SotC, Killzone, etc, etc. fan on the PS2.

Oh yes I am not a fan of Playstation <sarcasm>... contrary to what I stated above or the fact I frequent and comment on this site. And I do own the orginal Xbox (only) and that was for Halo. :/

But I forgive you. You are Sony people, and I am just... a mortal. :P

Anyway, It was not an impressive commercial. It might be an age or gen thing. I am older than most here probably so... eh. IF it worked for you then... you are probably the target audience they are going for.

I am sure you are also buying the PS4 day one. Its a guess I know since I do not know you. For me I am waiting a year because there are not enough games, new games, at launch since I play single player games. In a year the Sony game library should hopefully have more going to make he purchase worth while for entertainment.

Keep playing! and peace!

I didn't like the voices they gave the FF references.

"Neo-Bahamut, GOOO!" was the worst.
