Battlefield 4 Story Trailer Brings The Drama And Intensity

It's true that most people don't buy shooters for the stories.

But the Battlefield franchise has often boasted interesting, dramatic narratives that at least add to the basic FPS experience. And it appears the story in the upcoming Battlefield 4 will be all sorts of emotional and, potentially, captivating.

The new trailer shows off many characters-in-peril and situations where there's internal strife among the team. It's our first solid glimpse at the narrative that drives the single-player campaign forward and really, it has a lot of promise. Sure, there are plenty of cliches in there and they probably drop the f-bomb one too many times, but all that's to be expected. This is supposed to be a mainstream offering, after all.

Check it out. Are you more excited about Battlefield 4 than you are about Call of Duty: Ghosts? Or are you planning to get both?

Thanks, Zak!

Since Resistance 3 I have yet to play a FPS and I've been craving some great FPS action. Since I'm not buying a PS4 anytime soon then this might just be the next FPS franchise that I jump to. Only thing is... I won't buy it every year >_>

Yeah, Battlefield isn't an annual release. BF3 launched in 2011 I think, or 2010?

Pretty much looks like pre-rendered CGI from this little video player. Not sure how much of a need there'll be for a 'next-next gen' when graphics can look about as real as anyone would need them to.

Even in all of this next-gen's unspectacular and common x86 processors, it's still enough to give gamers all the realism that most would care about. I remember trying to argue this with former site contributor Highlander about this. That despite the PS4 being as regular in tech as they come, graphics have pretty much reached that apex many gamers have been striving for since the original PSX.

I recall reading a certain Highlander's contributions to this site regularly. Whatever happened to him/her?

His feelings got hurt and he ran away.

First we tried to get him to play Ni No Kuni, he refused because he wanted to boycott Namco bandai for something that happened with WKC2s DLC and patches and stuff. Then he made fun of NNK with no knowledge on the game and we said play it before you judge it etc and in general he was just very childish about it.

Second, the PS4 debate. He couldn't take the debate that people like Temjin and Beamboom were presenting to him.

There were other things too but those are the two biggest things I remember him being very vocal about, and saying he was leaving for a bit or something like that.

yah, not sure. i liked his brazen attitude even if i didn't always agree with him. when he'd try to engage me in a debate it was like, "oh crap, im not going there. this could take a whole day of explaining before coming to some form of understanding."
So usually for me it was say as much as I could in maybe 2 lines or less and move along =)

I can feel the drama. But I had to pay 2.99 to feel it better.

Both.

Zero interest in either campaign though.

idk about you but COD has disillusioned me since MW3 and well i've had enough and since BOII was well disappointing to say the least I'm going battlefield only for ever can't be bothered with COD i don't buy inferior products so battlefield it is for now and ever i don't think i can ever go back to or buy another COD ever. people say its fun but battlefield has always been much more enjoyable for me so yeah i'm for BF4 and the BF5 for as long as i am alive unless battlefield lets me down which is unlikely cos i sudn't get any worse only better(how much better will change but still better nun the less)

happy gaming =)
