New Online Study Gives PS4 A 2-1 Edge Over Xbox One
With the new generation of consoles exploding in November, which company has the edge?
Well, according to a new online study produced by digital intelligence firm Compete, it's Sony. Their PlayStation 4 has surpassed the Xbox One by an impressive 2-1 margin in their poll. Anyone surprised?
The study was conducted by Millward Brown Digital and took place between June and September. According to the results, about 73% of next-gen console shoppers considered the PS4, and 61% only considered Sony's machine. In contrast, about 39% considered the Xbox One, and 27% only looked at Microsoft's console. About 12% of shoppers were interested in both consoles, which means we may not see a whole lot of multi-console owners right off the bat. Well damn, that's an expensive proposition!
Of course, as always, we have to remember that most participators in such studies are avid or hardcore gamers, and Sony has often done well in that market. It's the casual/mainstream market that Microsoft basically owns, which is probably why total sales of the PS4 and Xbox One will come out about even in the US this holiday season.
