PS4 Launch Lineup Finally Confirmed: 22 Games Strong

Well, it's dead even. Both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will launch with exactly 22 games.

Sony has finally confirmed the software lineup for their new console, which is scheduled to release in the US on November 15. You're probably already familiar with most of the titles on the list, but here it is, anyway, for your records-

  • Killzone: Shadow Fall
  • Knack
  • Flower
  • DC Universe Online
  • Resogun
  • Sound Shapes
  • Skylanders SWAP Force
  • Angry Birds Star Wars
  • Tiny Brains
  • Battlefield 4
  • Warframe
  • Super Motherload
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts
  • FIFA 14
  • Just Dance 2014
  • Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition
  • Madden NFL 25
  • Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
  • NBA 2K14
  • Contrast
  • Pinball Arcade

In comparison, the original PlayStation launched in the US with 10 titles, the PS2 released with 27 games, and the PS3 launched with 14 games. Yeah, there was a reason why the PS2 ended up being the dominant player in the industry for years and years; it began with a bang and never really let up. Still, the PS4 has some heavy hitters for launch, even if only one (or two, if you count Knack) are exclusives.

Definitely nothing to be excited over. My friend can gloat all he wants about having his PS4 pre-order paid off - I am the smart one for waiting. I won't even be worried about getting the console until something in the vein of an RPG drops. Until then, I'm good with my PS3.

and at least 15 of those are already out or will be in a weeks time, on other platforms.
how sad.
really expected more from the company with THE biggest first party studios in the world!
7 years of development, and all those studios, and this is the best they can do?
very sad indeed!

i cant believe $ony do not have a big name launch title, i mean the wiiu had mario, the xbox one has forza, but the ps4s got jack!
no killzone is not a big name launch title, when you ask people about their favorite ps3 title they say GOW, GT, uncharted, LBP, not KZ!
hell even a heavenly sword 2 would of been better than bloody KZ!
and at least thats not a pew pew........

Delaying my purchased seems pretty justified right about now. The only one of those I'm even somewhat interested in is Knack.

Man that is sad. Almost everything is already available. I'm not a FPS guy so Killzone isn't my thing, knack looks interesting, but could turn out to be on the kiddie side.

Glad I decided to wait for Second Son before buying.

It's bad enough that there's only about 3 or 4 exclusive, while the rest are cross-platform and already available and none are worth purchasing a new console for.

That is pretty muhc how the majority of this gen is going to be. Most titles will be multi-platform, heck even Metal Gear Solid V is jumping to the Xbox this gen... is nothing sacred in the industry anymore.

With Sony, it was these 3rd party games which defined the PS1. Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro. Not one of them has stayed exclusive. The problem with this is it really damages the Playstation's image, these were games you associated the PlayStation with so to have them jump multi-plaform is real stab in the back. I honestly look at the two new consoles and so minor differences. This time it will be about hardware over games when it comes to the deciding factor... and that is a real shame.

The graphics difference for now is extremely slim , can already play lots of them , gonna be along time before any other game worth mentioning come out ( about 5 months )and there still is a couple of current gen game coming out .

So ya , the launch lineup is underwhelming .

Wow. Nothing I want and no way to use the system as a media client at launch. I'll play the two games that come with PS+ but I won't be buying anything for a while I guess. That's a shame.

Sad to say but 3rs party exclusives are mostly things of the past. A company not owned by a console producing company would be stupid to not go multi-platform, they whole key to making money is getting your product out to the most people possible... Personally I would love to see more 3rd party exclusives but it is what it is and there is no use whining about it, just need to move on and enjoy what ever you get. Personally I will be picking up AC4 and possibly KZ(if I can scrap together the money in time) when I pick up my PS4 and won't be regretting it one bit.
