Killzone: Shadow Fall Launch Trailer, Tech Trailer Arrive

For many, it's by far the most anticipated launch title for the PlayStation 4.

Killzone: Shadow Fall has been available to purchase for over a week now, but you can't play it until Sony's new console arrives on Friday, November 15. And to get you even more pumped up than you already are, Sony has released the bad-ass official launch trailer and a new tech trailer for Guerrilla's latest.

As a shooter franchise that has always put more of an emphasis on narrative, we're definitely looking forward to the campaign. After the 4-hour campaigns of Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4, it'll be nice to play something that actually feels like a full, rewarding single-player adventure. The only question will be whether or not Shadow Fall can compete in the multiplayer world.

As for the technical elements, this developer has always pushed the envelope. A new Killzone is just what the PS4 needs to show off the system's prodigious capabilities.

Thanks, Zak!

Lookin' good, but probably gonna wait until inFamous: Second Son to get a game. Once a shooter campaign is over it's pretty much a worthless game.

By the way, Delsin's new power was revealed. NEON!!!!
He can collect neon from stuff like neon signs and use it to run like the Flash.

If Infamous: Second Son was a launch game for the PS4, I'll be forced to buy the PS4 on its launch day... lol

The tech demo looks mighty impressive.
The rain sequence actually reminded me a lot about The Witcher. There you can see the raindrops fall and splash and reflect to the ground, it's a detail that is not that easy to really notice in a screenshot or video clip but you really do notice it when you're in the game.

I love to inspect the water effects in games very closely, sometimes the high profile AAA games do awful and cheapskate games do them great, it's always different. The Two Worlds II DLC had incredible rain.

I remember being ultra disappointed when Oblivion came at me with that fake-ass sheet of snow, so Skyrim was epic on that front.

I look forward to when the machines are powerful enough to handle seasons change and permanent weather changes. Just imagine snow gradually covering objects on the ground. Or leaves gradually turning to autumn colours and eventually falling down.

I don't think youtube will be able to do justice to the visuals with this new generation. I've been able to download two different minimally compressed mp4 clips of both Resogun and Killzone. The difference between youtube at 1080p and these clips is quite noticeable. I'm sure there are many games, on both PS4 and X1, that don't look as impressive as they really are because of the amount of compression used by youtube.

Looks pretty good. My biggest complaint about next gen graphics is it seems they still haven't figure out how to do realistic hair yet.

Otherwise everything else looks great. However this isn't my launch title....I be getting Knack instead :P

Well hair is one of the most complicated features to do since you have to simulate fluid movement or thousands/millions of strands of hair in realtime to make it look realistic, but even so I have to say that was pretty terrible-looking hair in that launch trailer, I've seen much better than that in current-gen games...
