Ghosts Needs Day-One PS4 Update To Run At 1080p HD
That day-one PlayStation 4 update is critical for a variety of important reasons.
And we just learned of another reason: According to what an Activision representative told Eurogamer, new PS4 owners will have to download the day-one patch in order for Call of Duty: Ghosts to run at a native 1080p resolution.
The update will allow the single-player adventure to run at the maximum high-definition resolution; the multiplayer element will run at 1080p right out of the box. So what's the deal? The Activision rep explained:
"There was a configuration issue in the retail version on single-player mode only. This has been addressed with a day one software update. People will be able to download the day one update when PlayStation 4 launches in their territory and play at native 1080p."
As we know by now, the Xbox One version of Ghosts will run at a native 720p, and it can be upscaled to 1080p. Sony has commented on the importance of the better resolution, saying that while their developers aren't "fixated" on the max HD resolution, it still makes for a better experience. And that makes perfect sense, wouldn't you say?
