Xboxers Bashing PS4 For Reliability Issues Is Comically Ironic

Come on, Xbox fans...really?

While Sony maintains that the reported problems with PlayStation 4 launch units are rare, it's a little unsettling to see so many ticked off gamers. First it was the "Red Line of Death" and now it's the "Blue Line of Death." Obviously, a few systems do have issues.

But I find it absolutely sickening and embarrassing to see video game communities flooded with Xbox loyalists who are laughing about this. Laughing gleefully as if it's the funniest thing they've ever heard. Really? Really? Either these people have really bad memories or they're just really that stupid. For civility purposes, I'll assume it's the former.

Have they all forgotten that the Xbox 360 may be one of the worst consumer products to ever be released to market in any category of goods and services? Do they not quite get that the term "blue line of death" is a version of "red ring of death," which wouldn't exist without the Xbox brand? We're talking over a 30% defective rate reported by five major retailers in North America, and it took four years for Microsoft to fix it. First they said they had no idea what caused the RRoD; then they pop up years later, after millions of additional purchases artificially inflated their sales numbers, and said they'd fixed it. "Here's a new system and now it actually works."

But above all else, I wasn't laughing when that was happening. I was disgusted, but I still felt bad for all the gamers Microsoft continued to fleece, over and over. I was a little concerned for the consumer's lack of intelligence - when someone tells me they're on their fifth 360, I have a question concerning potential brainwashing - but I didn't think it was funny. So, they're not only being childish about this PS4 issue, they're being vindictive, too. Listen to me very carefully, Xbox fans- if there's one aspect of game hardware you are never allowed to crow about, it's reliability.

Talk to me after the Xbox One has been out for a week and it has zero reported issues. I won't be holding my breath, though.

Why not both?

Xbox fans have short attention spans when it comes to how many times they've been fucked over :/

Since we're talking about attention spans (or the lack thereof), you should also see those Xbots brag about the xbone's Snap feature just because the PS4 will suspend whatever game you're playing if you switch to the PDM or another app.

Personally, I'd rather have the game pause itself if I need to do something out of it rather than leave it active in the background. Maybe it's just me being more than 30, but I digress. LOL

They are trying to force a scandal on Sony to accuse them of malfeasance in order to smear them. It's the Xbot's Benghazi.

What you hate about yourself you laugh at in others.

Same person making fun of the PS4 is probably on their fourth or fifth 360. They need to worry about Xbox one games flipping from Only to multi. I'm going to bet sometime next year you're going to see a Dead Rising whatever(Part 3 just with a new name with more features and locations)for the PS4.

I want to hear from retailers how many defective PS4's are being returned. I know the Gamestop I got mine from on Friday night had 2 that were returned up to that point. I don't doubt that maybe the system has issues (mine has worked flawless thus far), but I also don't doubt that XBox supporters and fanboys may be making the situation look worse online than what it really is.

I swear people are breaking the damn things, one of the videos inadvertantly showed how it had been shut down improperly prior to the defect. Before the vid started recording they probably shut it down improperly a dozen times in a row.

Watch, Xbox One will turn on late at night by itself and record you having sex with the Kinect and then broadcast the video to your friends. Then it will inform on you to the NSA.

Although Blue Line of Death is indeed taken from the term Red Ring of Death, that in turn is taken from Blue Screen of Death, which is a problem frequently associated with Windows... another Microsoft product.

Of course, I agree completely with this. The Xbox crowd has repeatedly shown their immaturity, especially when it comes to the console wars, so this is no surprise. They jump on anything they can. Of course there will be problems at launch, but it's been the trend at least the last two generations, so why should it be different now? Give it time, Sony will fix the problems. The main difference I see is that Sony has always been better about acknowledging the problems and doing right by the customers. Microsoft isn't really known for that.

Are we forgetting that the vast majority of Xbox users are under the age of 16? whether physically or mentally. So of course they'll have this childish behavior towards this problem. Everyone of us should have expected this to happen. We all know how XBoxees have been in the shadows waiting. With their RRoD 360 shining on their faces.

I can tell you that these Xboxers will change their tune if piracy is rife on PS4. Xboxers only supported MS not because of the superior online service or the better multi-platform games using the Unreal Engine but because they could pirate games at will with only a console ban as punishment. Most of these people care very little about the company they support and more about stealing games for their own selfish needs.

If the reported failures are 0.4% of units sold as Sony says, then that is really within acceptable failure rates for any device. Sucks for those that are in that percentile, but still, really good. Xbox fans should not speak too soon, if they are lucky, they have one week before they will see similar numbers.

The slim had issues too. it had over heating issues and would shut off in the middle of the game. it was also prone to scratch games making them useless. Had it's own "of death" thing.
But the ps3 got more reliable after the first big block versions, and those took a long time till the YLOD.

This is one Xbox fan not gloating, happy, etc. to see some PS4s have issues. I love gaming, regardless of the console, and it distresses me somewhat to see this. Still, it's a pretty low % so I'm not worried I'll get a bad one whenever I'm able to pick mine up.

I'll reiterate what I said in a comment thread last week -- to say nothing of the irony of Xbox fans of all people mocking supposed system failures (and I maintain this is a non-issue that's been blown WAY out of proportion and not based on ALL of the facts, namely that by all accounts the number of system failures is miniscule and well within industry norms) if there is one thing I cannot STAND about gaming culture is that hatred and contempt for your fellow gamer. Who WANTS somebody else's system to fail, whatever the brand? Who HATES others that they have never met and have (slightly) different tastes in games? It's just sad and dark and nasty.

Okay , are we actually ... surprised!? lol

Its funny because I hade not expectations of a console having a certain percentage fail. I realize it can and will happen, but I do not focus on it. Well... unless ist on every web page or news front page stating utter failure. Consumer Reports may be an odd place to go looking for a review.. but THEY test products for reliability. They gave a fair review.

Its like I have said before, gamers will whine and complain as they did with MS's original policies.. until they did a 180 to save themselves from utter fail. It was smart that MS did that, but MS marketing team knows gamers have short memories. Or better yet, they know Xbox gamers love the games and will focus on that.

A good case would be the Xbox360. Although Xbox fans... well really Halo fans... did not care at the end or after their 4th Xbox360. They wanted to play their game.

You are talking about two things here. A console... and the game. They love the Xbox exclusive games. The games I think mean more to them than the console. Could be that us Sony users are the same. Would you go to the Xbox if Uncharted was on that system?

I am sure MS is not going to hold back to make sure their launch is successful with as little failure. And I am sure some of the PS4 fanboys will retaliate as well IF some similar happens.

And if this WHOLE thing just does not make you sick and tired... well.

Keep playing and hope you are enjoying the PS4!

Actually, in a way I see this as a good thing: Every Sony product that has dominated the market has also had hardware issues (namely, the PS1 and the PS2). So hardware issues this early -proves- that PS4 is going to dominate! ^_^

Seriously, hardware issues suck, but as history has shown, companies can survive early hardware issues as long as people believe the product is good. As long as Sony honours warranty, this will blow over. Still sucks though, since everything else was going right for Sony.

In addition, -lack- of hardware issues also doesn't mean anything, as evidenced by the first Xbox, the PS3, or any console made by Nintendo post-SNES.
