PS4 Launch Lineup Reason Enough To Wait On A Purchase?
There are plenty of legitimate reasons to not purchase the PlayStation 4 immediately.
Some people still have plenty of games to play on the PS3. Others just don't have the extra money to spend right now. And maybe a few are scared off by the various and increasing reports of busted systems.
But maybe the biggest reason not to pony up for Sony's next-gen console is the admittedly lacking launch lineup. When perhaps the best game is essentially an old-school arcade shooter with really fancy visuals (Resogun), there's reason to pause. The heaviest hitter, Killzone: Shadow Fall, isn't all it was cracked up to be, and Knack is a definite disappointment in the eyes of many. Everything else is multiplatform and most titles are available for the PS3, anyway. They don't look quite as good, but so what?
I'm not saying Killzone isn't a really solid shooter; I'm saying the PS4 launch lineup really needed some extra spice and "next-gen" quality. inFamous: Second Son really could've helped, and I think we miss Watch Dogs more than we know. That was the one game I really wanted to play on a next-gen console, just because I was convinced it would need the extra power to truly shine. As it stands, we're left with an underwhelming launch software lineup that might make people think twice about a holiday PS4 purchase. "I'm not missing much," they might say.
Then again, PlayStation fans might just get the system 'cuz they know it'll kick ass in the years to come. That indeed may be true. But are you waiting for one particular game on the horizon? Perhaps the new Uncharted...?
