Yoshida Cancels Dinner Plans Due To "Addictive" Share Feature

Have you tried that nifty new Share feature? Apparently, once you use it, you just can't stop.

The Share button on the Dual Shock 4 allows players to stream game footage via the PlayStation 4 so others can see their progress. And SCE Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida just loves it.

As reported by DualShockers, Yoshida has been streaming quite a bit of gameplay from his personal PS4. He explained why during the "Kurokawa School: Thinking the Future of Entertainment" roundtable, which also included Comcept founder Keiji Inafune. Yoshida said that Share is "absolutely addictive if you try it out" and in fact, he canceled dinner plans so he could keep live-streaming his games.

He also added:

"You receive tips on gameplay, tricks and impressions in the comments from the audience, itís fun like playing with other guys."

It's definitely a useful and impressive feature, and one that really sets the PS4 apart in my eyes. I won't use it too often myself, but I can definitely see why others would get a big kick out of it.

All I learned from this was that Yoshida has ADHD.

yeah if there's any truth to actually cancelling dinner plan, it's all rather embarrassing.

I'm going to vouch Yoshida for that. I've streamed the last three times I've played without thinking much about it and I might be annoying my Facebook friends. Though I don't know for sure. My cover picture is even a screen shot of myself playing the playroom.

Hey, we all spend our Thanksgivings differently! Seriously though I can't figure why anyone would want a camera pointed at them while they game.

Haven't used, and can't use because I'm a sub-account. I don't want to create a new account and lose everything. Sony needs to have a way to be able to upgrade or convert sub accounts to master accounts.

Honestly, I can see myself having fun with this too. I'm pretty reserved, but I don't mind sharing a few cool moments with my friends, whom have similar interests in gaming.

This is a GOLD feature imo. I never wanted to invest in a capture card.

I've used it a few times in AC4, mostly for amusing glitches but also for just generally cool stuff. A few times though, I've tried to use it and the footage it displayed wasn't the part of the game that I was currently playing but I'm sure they'll get that sorted out. I'll vouch for the coolness of the feature though.

most useless overrated feature since the inclusion of social media on consoles.
would of much preferred to see all the time and money wasted on this crap go on something more useful and used, like, oh i dunno, DLNA playback, CD playback, MP3 playback, you know, things people actually use!
really getting sick of this one device does everything BS, its hardly new or innovative, in fact its existed for decades, its called the PERSONAL COMPUTER!
so how about we stop wasting time and resources, and put them into things people are actually going to use!?

Forza 5 is the only exclusive I would buy. Ryse isn't anything special and Dead Rising 3 is more of the same. I actually don't believe somebody your age could afford an Xbox One; especially with those Australian prices.

Its a cool feature for sure. What makes it addictive is how stupid easy it is to use. Push the button trim ur video, share. Just like that in seconds.

I hear that. I don't use any social media anymore apart from once a night FB but I know I will kindly dig this side of gaming.

I would watch other people's shared videos but I doubt I'd share any of my stuff at this time. Maybe in the future.

That's a gamer! Canceling plans to keep playing. Pleased to know that a gamer sits at top of Playstation, unlike some of the competition that might rather be watching TV.

I like the feature. Haven't used it all that much but i was streaming bf4 the other day and it worked flawlessly! Super easy. Sure it's not needed but it's still a cool feature. I mean none of the extras like movie playback and music playback are "needed" on a game console but it's still nice to have. I'm diggin pretty much everything about the ps4. It's ran smoothly and is definitely impressive to say the least.

The feature comes in handy sometimes, but the lack of sound really annoys me. Sometimes, it fails to record entirely, like my one match of Battlefield. I did amazing well, killing 30 enemies and dying only twice. So, I decided to share that, only to discover that the entire match failed to record. I ended up sharing a game I had hours before by accident, where I died every few seconds.

While it is a very fun feature, it's far from flawless. I do wish sound would record or stream.
