Kojima: MGSV Arrives When There Are "Lots" Of PS4 Owners
We don't have an exact release date for either Ground Zeroes or The Phantom Pain, but we know the former is a prequel, an introduction of sorts, and it should be ready to go some time early next year.
As for the full game, The Phantom Pain, that is an ambitious undertaking that creator Hideo Kojima says won't be finished any time soon. In a recent Famitsu interview (as cited by Kotaku), the MGS guru says it'll show up when "lots of people" have the PlayStation 4.
For the record, Ground Zeroes will be available for both current- and next-gen platforms, so you don't need Sony's new console for that one. But during the PS4 launch event in New York, Kojima said enough people need to have the new system before The Phantom Pain releases. Now, it's just a matter of deciding what his definition of "lots" is...Sony does expect to move 5 million PS4 units by end of March 2014. But that probably isn't enough; Kojima may want more like 10-15 million.
