PSXE Poll Update: PS4 Launch Lineup Is Merely Average

Many gamers will probably agree that the software launch lineup for the PlayStation 4 could've been better.

And that's basically what the majority of our readership believes, although they're not necessarily unhappy with the selection, either.

The majority of those who voted said they've at least got one or two games worth playing, with many more saying they've got plenty. That's good to hear; you always want to have stuff to play when you bring home a new console! Killzone: Shadow Fall is a great game even if it isn't a bona fide masterpiece, and the third-party selection is excellent; Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, NBA 2K14, Madden NFL 25, Need for Speed: Rivals, etc. And Resogun is a wicked stimulating downloadable experience.

But it's true that the PS4 could've used one more big exclusive, 'cuz Knack didn't cut the mustard. As for this week, we just want to know how many of you already have the PS4. Did you pre-order and pick it up on day one? Were you lucky enough to find one during the past week? Are you not planning to purchase it for a while? Let us know.

Yeah id agree that one more awesome exclusive like inFamous or Drive Club would have been nice. However theres some pretty solid titles out and if your a shooter fan then its that much better.

if your not a shooter fan though, I can see how it is looked at as mediocre or less than great. But I've got 4 games right now and have only played 2 of them. Ive got plwnty to hold me over until the next big game.

The PS4 line up is a bit thin on the ground. Its a marathon not a sprint but Sony doesn't want to give Microsoft too much traction if they don't need to. All seems a bit rushed. Maybe 6-12 months too early. I will hopefully pick up a PS4 in 6 months when all the hype has calmed down a bit and there is a price drop.

I wouldn't say average, more like garbage. Aside from Shadowfall, not a single thing interested me. I do think it's awesome how even without a stellar list of exclusive AAA games, ps4 has outsold xbox one still. Also, a car on forza 5 is 50$ as a microtransaction. Can you believe that? I read it and the MS guy said "We're still new to microtransactions and still aren't sure where a good balance is. Its all about the gamers." Funny, a few months ago it was about Tv, tv, television, tv, tv, sports, sports, sports, television, call of duty dog.

not even average!
so disappointed with shadow fall, i actually kinda enjoyed 1,2, and 3 but this is the biggest PoS a first party studio has EVER put out!
just every single little design decision was made by rolling the dice.
dont test it to make sure it works, who cares if it fits and suits, just put it in and move on!
term rush job would be the understatement of the century!
ive NEVER played a game that i want to stop playing as much as shadowfall.
ever since i started i wanted to take it back, and now im up to chapter 9, well, i havent touched it in 2 days and i force myself to go back to it.
really want to finish it, but when you hate playing it so much, whats the point?

Leave your gamer card at the door....and stop saying you have a PS4 cause we all know your lying.

Don't let this guy sway you, the system is great and the games are worthy, its all about personal taste and right now I'm loving me some PS4.

We all know you're a troll - no-one here takes you seriously, and given Killzone:Shadowfall is by far the least buggy launch FPS in next gen, the comment "dont test it to make sure it works" kinda gives you away ;).

I'm very, _very_ happy with the PS4's launch line-up. I didn't have high expectations for Killzone after some of the more scathing mainstream reviews (Ben's is spot on :)) but it's actually rather good, the MP in particular is excellent.

As for the rest, WAR THUNDER is great gameplay wise, even if the economy and how the microtransactions work is incredibly poorly explained, Warframe is surprisingly enjoyable, and while Knack will just come and go, it's still fun, if not particularly memorable.

Resogun is a highlight, it's just great, and Flower is well worth another look if you've played it before, and if you haven't, give it a go!

Oddly enough, BF4 has been my disappointment at launch. There are the bugs and instability, of course, but even then, even on 64 vs 64 maps, it still 'feels' like BF3 on PS3. The extra player count doesn't bring intensity as much as randomness, and it doesn't feel anything like MAG, which is still my top 'large scale' shooter. Maybe Planetside 2 will do better.

What is this War Thunder game?! I haven't heard of it, though it sounds like a free-to-play title (I'm guessing that because you mention microtransactions).

Just looked it up. I'll probably DL'd it and check it out if/when it ever comes to NA.
