PlayStation 4: What Are You Most Looking Forward To In 2014?

The PlayStation 4 is here and despite an admittedly lackluster launch lineup, the future appears to be bright.

Looking down the road into 2014, what are you most looking forward to? Is it the games? Is it more features that haven't yet been delivered, such as Gaikai? Better stability or lower price, perhaps?

As I've never been a huge social media follower, I have to say that for me, it's a tie between the impending software titles and Gaikai. In terms of the latter, I'm really interested to see how that works out; the PS4 isn't backwards compatible, and I'm wondering if I'd take advantage of the cloud streaming service. The only problem is that I still can't play my old games on disc. So, Gaikai or no Gaikai, I still need to have the PS2 and PS3 hooked up to play all my old games.

As for software, if Uncharted 4 comes out, that's #1 on my list. In my estimation, the Uncharted franchise was head-and-shoulders above the competition in the last generation, and I can't wait to see what Naughty Dog does with the new hardware. It was already incredible what they did with the PS3...can you imagine what they could do with the PS4? I also can't wait for inFamous: Second Son and I have high hopes for The Order: 1886. Deep Down not so much, just becaues I hear it's basically an MMO.

How about you?

My life with the PS3 began with Uncharted, and so far it looks like my life with PS4 will begin with Uncharted.

PS 4 + Vita bundle, perhaps.

Otherwise, waiting for that one killer game that pushes me into next gen. That'll probably be Destiny. Or Uncharted. Or AC 5 would do it too. Or Borderlands 3. Those last 3 - whichever comes first - will make me pull the trigger if I haven't previously.

and as for games in 2014, you pretty much got all them down for me, Infamous and Uncharted are always a D1 purchase for me and The Order looks amazing so all thats holding me back is the lack of a PS4

Anything MGS! One of the various open world titles coming out would also help me buy a PS4. Or maybe some kind of combo situation with the Vita.

Future MGS titles and Kingdom Hearts III are steps in the right direction... but even then, I think there'll need to be more before I finally pony up the dough. Until then, I am just fine with Skyrim, both Fallouts, and Disgaea (not to mention the titles I have yet to play/beat).

the order 1886 probably the most for 2 reasons.
1 its made by ready at dawn, and, well, if they can do GoS on the PSP i cant wait to see what they can do on the ps4!
such a stunning game GoS was, forget its a PSP game, just stunning in its own right.
2 reading gameinformers lead cover story in it, biggest thing you get from it is a much more advanced physics system which is something ive always wanted.
they say everything in the game is no longer static, it will react to whatever happens and in many different ways too depending on what hit it, from what angle, at what speed, what the material is, what the material that struck it is, and so on.
the biggest push i want for next gen, just much more believable worlds and much more alive and populated.
this is making a strong push for that which is nice.
that and its setting, loved the decore of dishonoured and this just has even more of the old style to it.
also reading the weapons have 2 firing modes which is something so sorely missed, and everything is designed to look period, accurate to the time, but this is a alternative history so everythings futuristic too.
another thing i love about wolfenstein the new order, just something so cool and pleasing about something that looks so dated on the outside, but has technology to blow your socks off!

that and i just cant wait to see what R*s doing next.
whichever team does not matter, i just cant wait to see what there worlds are going to be like with new hardware!
if i had to pick one franchise, id have to go red dead.
hell i cant play that game now without being massively impressed even though its what 3 years old?
and we have new consoles, and still it amazes me every time i play it.
a new red dead for next gen consoles and of course PC, now that would be the bombdigity!
oh, and of course agent, but we all know thats never going to happen.
:(
publishers need to get into the habit of not announcing games till their 100% positive it WILL be released, and within a 3 year time frame!
no more of this announcing games, then 3+ years later you still have not seen anything on it.

I'm putting off getting one because my backlog is so huge between PS3, 360 and Steam games (over 80 cheap games I bought on sale I still haven't played on steam yet!!)

With MGS Ground Zeroes being cross gen, along with Watch Dogs, and TitanFall being on PC as well, I don't see much need for a Ps4 right now. My PS3, 360, Wii and current PC setup seem to do everything I want right now.

The reason I bought a PS3 was for Grand Theft Auto IV and Assassin's Creed. And Rock Band. And MGS 4. And the Blu-Ray player. And the Six-Axis controller.

If anything makes me buy a PS4, I'd say it'll likely be the exclusive games. Uncharted would clearly be top of the list, in fact I would preorder an Uncharted PS4 bundle the day it is announced!! MGS Phantom Pain would be a very close second, as all MGS titles have given me fond gaming memories. Infamous Second Son would be a good third place for most wanted. I have high hopes for The Order 1886 so am looking forward to seeing how that turns out. Anything by Media Molecule would definitely get me interested, I love the creativity of those developers!

Only thing holding me back from making the jump to next gen is my love of current gen titles. If I could play the following games on my PS4 on disc (not Streamed) I will buy a PS4 right now!!
- Uncharted Trilogy
- The Last of Us
- Metal Gear Solid 4
- Red Dead Redemption
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Assassin's Creed 2 / Brotherhood
- Heavy Rain
- God of War III
- LittleBig Planet 2
- ICO / Shadow of the Colossus HD
- Guitar Hero / Rock Band (with DLC songs carried over)
- Singstar (with DLC songs carried over)

If those games are re-released on disc for PS4, I would buy a PS4 immediately, reliving the best of the PS3 while being wowed by the brand new stuff for PS4.

What other classic PS2 or PS3 games would you like to see re-released on Disc for PS4? Something that will sell well, a game that will be financially viable for a disc rerelease. Leave your replies below, am genuinely interested.

There's so much potential greatness ahead:

The Witcher 3
Dragon Age Inquisition
Watch Dogs
Thief
Infamous SS
Titanfall (for PC)
GTA5 (for PC)

Of the unconfirmed titles there's two I really am dying to start hearing of:

The next Mass Effect installation
And of course...: FALLOUT 4!

Forget the features... the games are all that ultimately matter. inFamous, Uncharted, The Order, Thief, Watch_Dogs... and then come the new games from Media Molecule, Quantic Dream and Level-5 and, of course, Gran Turismo 7. They may not all be 2014, but I'd expect most of them to be at least hinted at during the calendar year.

All I know for sure is that I'm going to be one happy gamer when I get my PS4 whenever that happens next year :)

Why does everyone think the launch is so crappy? Xbox ones isnt really that great either. These are new systems after all....
There are 3 good multi platform games I would like to get and to be honest everyone is going to be playing ghosts/battlefield/assasins creed like crazy at first. We have all until 2014 to get good games. I think people are going to be more worried FINDINGa PS4 then playing 7 different games.

Not that I disagree, but curious why you're confident it definitely wouldn't be 2014? I think they've been working on it for several years now, my instinct is that it may actually be closer to release than we think. Though maybe they are concerned with giving Elder Scrolls online more time alone in the limelight...

Without a Final Fantasy XV or Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain I shall be getting my PS4 in 2015. I'm expecting an incredibly slow year for 2014 - Which is not surprising due to the absolute quality we have had in 2013. If anything, I am mostly looking forward to Xenoblade 2 for the Wii-U.

But the PS3 has plenty to keep my occupied with, Final Fantasy X & X-2 - Platinuming them will take time, going to beat the Dark Aeons without Yojimbo this time! Lightning Returns to finish off the XII series for good. Ground Zeroes and sometime Kingdom Hearts 2.5 REmix HD - If it is to the quality of the first HD collection it's a day one purchase. So I have plenty to look forward to in 2014 without a PS4.

I have to be honest... none of them really get me excited. There is Ground Zeroes, but to be honest, after seeing the graphics comparsion of Assassins Creed 4, I think I will just get the PS3 version. We kind of already know what happens in GZ from the trailers. The Phantom Pain is the true MGS5 and yes, when that is released PS4, day one.

Also, I doubt Uncharted 4 will be out in 2014. Watch Dogs is reason to get excited though, I'll give you that, not a system seller for me though - Will certainly pick it up at a later date though.

That's a really good point, I have to admit I was generally impressed with the initial gameplay demonstration - I don't often like military based games but I reckon if I ever get a PS4 that will be one title I look out for.

Goodness, so many great games already announced I can't wait to play. Destiny, MGS Ground Zeroes, Infamous Second Son, The Order 1886, Uncharted. I'm probably most excited though by what hasn't been announced yet -- every Sony studio is working on PS4 games and we've only heard about a small handful so far. Not sure how many of those we'll see released next year, but it will be fun to learn more about what's coming down the road.
