Bethesda Confirms Fallout 4 Teaser Site "Is Not Official"

If you were getting your hopes up concerning that seemingly official Fallout 4 website, we've got bad news.

The teaser website "TheSurvivor2299.com" made the rounds earlier and it made role-playing fans everywhere salivate. Unfortunately for those fans, Bethesda has confirmed via Twitter that it is "not an official site."

The site went live a few weeks ago and boasted a countdown clock that would end on December 11. But despite evidence that it was registered to Bethesda parent company Zenimax Media, it was apparently made by a fan. There is a good possibility that a new Fallout entry is in the works, as there's information that leads us to believe it'll be set in Boston, Massachusetts. But it doesn't looke like Bethesda will announce anything any time soon; they don't intend to reveal anything during the 2013 VGX Awards, for instance.

The last franchise installment was 2010's Fallout: New Vegas.

Thats too bad. I admit to loving Fallout 3, with all its bugs and crash issues aside. Not a perfect game, but got me to the point of having a hard time putting the controller down.

Its one of those open world games that for me succeeded in what I wanted in one. Might be the possible past/future concept. Unlike what GTA did for me which was for me to put down the controller and throw the disc in the garbage because it was not worth anything to anyone. And no, it was not the recent iteration, but GTA4. Not really a GTA fan to begin with or now.

Hope they bring something similiar in gameplay but another iteresting world to explore along with the building to investigate and characters.

It has to be one of only a few open world games in my library that worked.

Keep playing!

Big sadness here. I want Fallout 4 like now, it's been way too long.

You're not alone.
These days I don't think there is a single franchise who I more am dying to hear from than Fallout. Even Mass Effect will have to settle with being #2.

I think is indeed genuine. The site seems to be registered to Zenimax, which is the parent company of Bethesda. So there's still hope, folks!

I believe you need to head over to the site at TheSurvivor2299 dot com again.
It's definitely fake. :)

You could hardly expect Bethesda to be announcing Fallout 4 now, while The Evil Within and Wolfenstein are where their PR focus should be. For what it was, though, it was a brilliantly orchestrated campaign, even if it did lead to massive disappointment.

Does anyone think a four year development cycle for Fallout 4 could make it brilliant? It would mean waiting until the end of 2015... But Skyrim was wonderful with three years, and Fallout 3 wasn't too shabby on just two. Could be utterly ace, methinks.

I bet Bethseda is trolling. It would be more surprising if they said it wasn't, and then it turns out it was a fallout 4 trailer. With the internet being so full of people googling stuff, its really hard for a big corp to keep secrets, or even surprise people. At least I hope its them trolling. I got my hopes up and everything

Fallout 3 was in 2008 by Bethesda[Falout N.V. was by odsidian?]

On the other hand, the fantastic Skyrim and the very good dishonored came out and indeed now wolfenstein, but come on,when will fallout 4 be released then,2015?,a 7 !! years later as Fallout 3,that's way to long for me.
I'm thinking of buying fallout New vegas, but it seems that there are no destroyed city's as washinghton dc in fallout 3?and the exploring seems less in New vegas?
i liked this in Fallout 3

There's no large city like Washington DC in NV, but there's smaller towns/camps and the outskirts of New Vegas too.
Exploration is still very much a part of the game.

Fallout 3 was clearly better in my opinion, but still New Vegas is more than worth playing.
My main issue with New Vegas is in fact the story. It never fetched me, so I more or less just tagged along for the side quests and general exploration. And that made me lose a dimension that was always there in F3.

Didn't stop them from leaving the site's credibility in question for all this time.

They could have confirmed it fake from the start.
