Telltale Games Developing Game Of Thrones Adaptation

Rumors persisted for some time, but now it's official.

The Walking Dead developer Telltale Games confirmed during the 2013 Spike VGX Awards that they're currently developing an episodic adventure series for the hit TV show, Game of Thrones. Are you excited?

They showed off a teaser that doesn't really tell us much, besides the fact that the game is currently in the works and is "taking advantage of all the fiction." We also know that the anticipated release window is some time in 2014, and we're assuming that next-gen platforms are being targeted. The talented designers are pretty busy; they're also cranking away on the anticipated second season of The Walking Dead, and they're developing the recently announced Tales from the Borderlands along with Gearbox.

Okay, if you're a "Game of Thrones" junkie, it's time to fess up.

Who isn't a fan of genitalia?

But yes, I'm sure this will be a pretty awesome game.

Loved GoT until the red wedding. Wonder if Telltale will make your decisions and stuff matter.

Ahahaha. You and the rest of the world who hadn't read the books.

I nearly stopped watching the show after that episode.

Yeah so I've heard man. I'm usually a big reader but I just don't have time to read these days so I opted to just watch the show. I'm kinda glad because the readers never shut up about how the show is too different.

Could be pretty good.

Considering how popular GoT is, I am surprised we haven't seen more games for it. We really need a good GoT game, and Telltale did produce the GOTY winning The Walking Dead, so fingers crossed.

Just started reading the series last week and quite enjoying it thus far. I will probably end up getting this if it gets bundled in a retail collection at some point.

I still feel bad that I gave up on Wheel of Time.

I'm currently going through Wheel Of Time right now, but boy does it get annoying by the time you get to the eighth book.

Found the eighth book a bit of a tough one to get through, but it does pick up again after that. Took me 3 attempts to read the series though!
You should have another try at it World, great series of books, but takes about 6 months to a year to read it all in 1 hit (unless you have loads of free time on your hands!)
That would be a great series to make an rpg around, but could easily get butchered if not done right.

I'm in the same boat with waiting to finish Wheel of Time.
Once I'm finished GoT, currently 1/4 done book 4, I'll get back into book 9 of WoT.

It was great at the beginning, but after reading GoT, WoT seems so slow-paced by comparison.

so are we to assume the point and click nature of TT games is going to be removed for these?
because i really cant see a GoT and borderlands game working as a point and clicker.

Now that Breaking Bad has wrapped GoT is probably the best show on TV (between it and Mad Men, in my opinion, though of course the two shows are quite different.) I think this could be even better than the Walking Dead games, since the universe is just so rich.

Currently finishing off the second GoT book and enjoying them immensely so I'd be interested in trying this perhaps.

Dont think I've played a tell tale game yet either.
