Yamauchi: "Fine-Tuning" Games Not As Hard On The PS4

It's not the first time we've heard a developer say that it's easier making games for the PlayStation 4.

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi compared the differences between the PS4 and its predecessor during a recent Prima Games interview (as cited by Examiner).

The boss says that while developers had to "fine-tune" a game on the PS3 before it performed optimally, that challenge won't be as difficult with the new console:

"I think you know that the PS4, compared to the PS3, the games are going to be easier to make because with the PS3 you had to really fine-tune the game to get it to perform well and put out high performance content. It’s not going to be as difficult on the PS4."

That ease of development should result in some pretty stable, well-performing games, wouldn't you say? It's also important to note that the Gran Turismo titles have always been technical tour de forces, dating back to when the original wowed us all on the first PlayStation. So, if there's one guy who knows a little something about system potential and "fine-tuning" a game, it's probably Kazunori Yamauchi.

I hope Sony studios still do SOME fine tuning. No sense getting lazy just because you can.

Wouldn't you have to fine tune any game on any system to make it perform well if you push the hardware hard enough?

He's only choosing those words cause he's in bed with Sony.
What he's really saying is that the Cell architecture was a b*tch to write code for, and he's glad that sh*t's thrown out of the door now.

so, we wont have to wait FIVE freaking years before GT7 comes out?
great, heres hoping they finally manage to put some decent damage modelling in the game, heres to soft body physics!
and please for the love of god can we have the licences back!?
o, and a forza styled autovista mode would be nice.
but for f*cks sake, dont lock the cars till you purchase them!
stupidest decision a game designer has EVER made!
the whole point of autovista is to ogle cars you cant afford yet, so locking the cars you cant afford yet and only having the ones you can, is, well, you get the picture.

wtf are u saying? all GT series have license tests. gt6 has it as well, the only difference is they allow u to start doing other races early to "warm you up" and prepare you for the license which makes sense and is better than sitting and doing the same test 10 times per test.

The irony here is of course that this is what the more independent developers (from a speech point of view) - the 3rd party devs - have been saying for YEARS.

But of course, back then they were all accused of being %ยค&# lazy nogooders by the rabient fanboys.
