Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Lands Release Date

Metal Gear Solid V will be released in two parts; there's the prologue called Ground Zeroes and the much larger experience, entitled The Phantom Pain.

Franchise creator Hideo Kojima was recently quoted as saying the latter project will require "much more time" but thankfully, Ground Zeroes isn't far off. Just a few months.

Konami has announced that the anticipated first chapter in the next MGS adventure will release across all platforms on March 18, 2014. This confirmed date arrived along with a new trailer, which features the "Jamais Vu" mission. Unfortunately for PlayStation fans, this will be exclusive content for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One but don't worry, PS3/PS4 owners will receive the exclusive "Deja Vu" mission, in which we'll play as classic Solid Snake. I prefer that one, don't you?

Ground Zeroes will be a digital download and can be purchased for the PS4 and Xbox One for only $30. The PS3 and 360 versions will cost $20.

A date for the calendar indeed. I have to say though this DLC is utter crap, has no relation to even the setting and I just dont care for it. Metal Gear has been a series which handles humour and oddities very well, but nonsense like this. Eh, I dont feel like I am missing out at least.

I feel like the whole game is just some budget DLC designed to squeeze.

Hmmm, I see your point. I think the problem is that we have pretty much seen everything GZ has to offer in the trailers - We know pretty much the entire story already. While the Phantom Pain, while being set in the past still has a lot of ground to cover and a worthwhile story to tell. I am far more excited to play PP than GZ.

But, it looks like we wont be getting The Phantom Pain until 2015. If that is the case, I will gladly take a prologue telling the story between Peace Walker and MGS5 over nothing for 2014. I myself wont be buying a PS4 for the game, like I originally intended but like most I am hoping for a special edition which combines them both upon the release of the Phantom Pain.

So is the prologue going to be included in the Phantom Pain? If so ill wait. However why create 2 dofferent peices of dlc and gove each console one? Why not just release both for both consoles? That is just stupid.

This is the franchise that would make me buy a new console. MGS is my favorite franchise and this is news that I do not like. Furthermore, I prefer my games in disc format. Ground Zeroes, I apologize but I think Ground Zeroes and Phamton pain will evetually release together for PS4 therefore I will dedicate my time to Dark Souls 2.

Just one question... how in blazes does Raiden fit into the canon of MGSV? I mean... the guy won't be born for another ten years or so if I've got my chronology right.

This sounds like a convenient way for Konami to get more than $60 for one game by splitting it into two pieces.

I'll wait until it is a complete game before buying it.

I actually prefer the Raiden DLC. The Deja Vu mission woulda been cooler if Kojima hadn't included the flashback moment in MGS4 already.

another big expansive game that will take ages to finish, releases against 199 other big expansive games that will take ages to finish.
sigh, seriously, is it so much to ask for publishers to learn how to read a calendar!?

Do you HAVE to play all games instantly the day they are released, only to never return to them again? Can you never ever buy a game that's a few months old? Do they rot in your world?

I mean seriously, you are whining about absolutely EVERYTHING! Every single thing! Either a game is too long or too short or released at the wrong time or featuring the wrong modes or the wrong story or oh - my - GAWD!
