Pachter: PS4 Outsold Xbox One In US During November

One has to factor in the extra week of availability for the PlayStation 4, but it's still promising for Sony.

Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter talked about the projected sales of the PS4 and Xbox One during a 2013 NPD Preview Report (as cited at VideoGamer).

He believes the PS4 sold around 1.25 million units in the US during the month of November, while the Xbox One sold about 750,000. The PS4 launched in this region on November 15 and Sony revealed that worldwide sales of the system had surpassed 2.1 million as of December 1. At the time, they said around 700,000 had been sold in North America. As for Microsoft's console, the Xbox One launched in 13 territories on November 22 and we received a sold-through number of over 1 million units at launch.

As for the Wii U, analysts are expecting disappointing sales of 150,000 in the US, while the Xbox 360 once again outsold the PS3; 700,000 to 550,000. If the Xbox One continues to be more available than the PS4 in this country during the month of December, Sony's lead may shrink, but here's hoping retailers receive regular shipments.

That is true. Try hunting for a PS4 and it will be much harder than looking for an Xbox1. There are a lot of sheeps out there but that initial respond truly hurt MS. I definitely don't want a console that probably eavesdrop on everything that I say.

I'm just happy the world makes sense again. Why a DVD-based jet engine that broke down every 4 days was the top console for so long I will never figure out. Even casuals shouldn't be that stupid.

they had the momentum of Xbox LIVE that Sony was way too slow at adapting to. They had the cheapest hardware SKU. They had full support from third parties.

And then one of their mistakes. They gave up on leading the identity of their platform with anything other than Halo, Fable, and Forza, thus allowing the third parties to dominate it's image. Hence making the success of their platform contingent on something they can't control.

Now with the X0.
They have worse leading up launch PR than that of the PS3. THey have the price of the PS3 (relative to the highest at the time) and a lack of the newer Blu Ray standard as momentum. And in it's place. A crap camera that hasn't produced a single great game that only the cheap minded casuals care for. but casuals need things cheap. the X0 ain't cheap. They'll settle for a 360/Kinect bundle.

With all of the greatest third party franchises appearing near equally on the PS4, with a lower hardware buy in price, near equal online services with the appeal of an Instant Game Collection, with better image quality and usually better performance, the choice is an easy one for those after the hottest shooters and sports titles. This reputation is carried first with the core and then virally made known to the lesser informed.

The PS4 is also $100.00 cheaper without the camera. I have to say that the Xbox One is selling pretty well in the US, despite the price gap.

If true that's amazing, the Xbox One supply has never dried up. It's everywhere. PS4 got bought up and ran out of stock pretty fast.

MS will have to cut out the KINECT. Won't be surprised if it happens next year.

EDIT: cut it before MS's X0 joins MS's other two hardware blunders. The Zune and Surface.

Kinect is so integrated into the Xbox One experiences that MS cannot take it out. They would have to drop the price and loose $$.

Xbox deserves to be buried right next to those two products.

no the Kinect isn't as integrated as they want you to believe it is.
i say ms needs to cut the kinect and bundle Titanfall instead for $299. Make it like a special TitanFall edition X0. Then eventually roll out a core sku for $250.

Well it isn't that the Kinect is that deeply integrated, it is just that the Xbox One OS is designed with the Kinect as the main form of input.

They literally make it so much harder to do things without it.

Also, Microsoft have said the XB1 will 'never' be sold without the Kinect. But we know how good their word is don't we.

MS has already stated that for developers in an upcoming update they can choose to use the memory and processing reserved for kinect functionality to be used however they desire. Something like this wouldn't be done if the kinect was to never be de-coupled.
remember. the kinect now, as in currently, doesn't have to be connected for the X0 to work. That was a reversal that happened a good while ago. It's already optional.

Now, the PS4 needs to start showing up for Christmas shopping parents and gift-givers. They're running out of time. And the xbone's sitting there are going to get bought just b/c they're sitting there.

Stay Classy PSX...(movie out next week!)

Personally I just do not understand todays "consumer". Some of the suggestions are that if you really want a PS4, but it is not in stock the consumer will get the XB1. Even though the former technically is better, they will settle for the next thing. Instead of waiting and getting what they want.. they settle. Why? Are they that desperate to be a part of the next gen they will forgo getting the brand they want? Nuts. I am sure MS loves the desperately gotta have consumer. I'm sure any company and brand is.

Geez. These are not gamers or fanboys... they are consumer addicts.

Its not like there are a lot of new and decent games to justify not waiting.

Yes, Sony needs to be sure to be on top of supplies.

Keep playing!

It's kinda hard for me to believe some people bought Xbone because they can't get a PS4. I know I won't.

It kind of sucks that the PS4 is completely sold out in Australia till early next year. You won't be able to go a buy one straight off the shelf until then. The demand is that high.

yea, having 1 week extra on the market and releasing first on the market thus making the majority of people pick that up instead, will do that.
more interesting that has not had the same effect here though.
M$ were the first out for EU by the same week, and there surprisingly the best seller.
kinda surprised considering there still available for purchase, but ps4 has been sold out for the year since like august!
maybe that just means M$ supplied a heck of allot more systems, which would not surprise me considering how $ony treats EU.
M$ rationed everything out evenly, where $ony kept the majority for the one country.
yea, that sounds like $ony.

Aren't you soon tired of reaching for the key combo to type a dollar sign instead of S every time you write Sony or MS?
I mean, the joke is long, long gone. Just like the thumbing up your own posts. It's in fact just annoying.
