PS4 Update 1.52 Available Now, Improves Overall Stability

If you turned on your PlayStation 4 in the past 24 hours or so, you were asked to download a new update.

It's update 1.52 and it's designed to improve overall system software stability. The update can be manually downloaded via the Settings menu, and users have the option of letting the PS4 automatically download new updates in the future.

For me, the update was downloaded and installed relatively quickly, which is a good sign. The PS3 was notorious for taking forever to update the system, but Sony has promised faster updating with the new and more powerful console. As for the competition, Microsoft released a firmware update for the Xbox One yesterday, which was supposed to fix certain SmartGlass, operating system and matchmaking problems. As is typically the case for any new hardware launch, there are issues that must be addressed.

But as time goes on, reports of failing PS4 and Xbox One units appear to have tapered off. Here's hoping that trend continues.

I'd be scared of bricking updates this early.

This early, a bricked console isn't really a worry.

Especially with warranty.

If it was 2+ years down the line, and I had 10+ games installed on my console when it bricked, yeah I'd be pretty pissed.

"pretty pissed" doesn't begin to describe the feeling of loosing my PS3 that exact way

Seriously I think this update came out too soon. I thought the update 1.51 was for that. Now another one... Calm down Sony.

Updated today and my son and I gave Knack another try with great success. Knack was freezing my PS4. We played for 2 hours with zero freezing. So happy and loving Knack. My son and I don't understand why it wasn't better received. It's beautiful, fun and has awesome coop. Only game I still have problems with is BF4. Great to read they are fixing and taking these problems really seriously.

I know... I read the reviews, and I agree with them on a lot of points. But at the end of day, I simply cannot even begin to fathom how such a game can be called crap and have a score of 55 on metacritic.

Hold on... so you actually play AC4. Not only that, but also play it on the PS4??

You sure you aren't confusing this with the Xbox1? Sorry, I just don't believe you have a PS4, let alone play games on it that are also on the Xbox.

I highly doubt you even own a PS4, let alone play ACIV on it. Don't forget mate, ACIV is SOOOOO much better on PC right?

I have been playing ACIV constantly since I got my PS4 and I have never encountered a single freeze.

You are lowering yourself to a whole new level now by trying to troll.

Hopefully it fixes the share problems I have had. I dunno if it's cause I've taken 100's of screenshots, but anytime I try to look through my screenshots folder, the PS4 just crashes.

It let's me preview about four of them and then it just freezes.

Anyone else have this problem?
