LEGO The Hobbit: "The Most Diverse LEGO Quest To Date"

You can "LEGO-fy" just about anything; it just seems all cute and charming, despite a darker fantastical setting.

LEGO The Hobbit has been confirmed and it's no surprise. The new family-friendly title will arrive next year for all major platforms, so get ready to guide Bilbo Baggins and his band of determined and capable adventurers to the Lonely Mountain.

The game encompasses the first two films in "The Hobbit" movie trilogy; "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" and the recently released "The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug." Bilbo, the wizard Gandalf, the dwarf Thorin Oakenshield, and the Ring-obsessed Gollum all play a role in this grand endeavor, and the publisher is calling it "the most diverse quest of any LEGO video game to date." Warner Bros. Interactive has also furnished us with a new trailer; see it below.

These games are perfect for comical, entertaining co-op, and they also pack in a ton of content. They're usually really well done and you get a ton of bang for your buck.

FINALLY, got a PS4 yesterday and I'm ankle deep in Lego Marvel Super Heroes which I have to own because of fiance so The Hobbit will easily be a day 1 purchase for us. Whatever keeps her playing. This one by far the best of the series to date in my opinion so can't wait to see what's next. They are also making a Lego The Movie game. Really like how they make these games kid friendly but not to kiddie so that adults can have fun with them as well. Look forward to them all. Keep em coming.

I agree with everything you wrote! They are truly great fun games. Especially the PS4 version Marvel Super Heroes is the definitive version.

Hey, how did you like the flying super heroes/villains flying controls? I thought it was very poor to say the least. It made almost all those flying races difficult. I was able to finish all races and wow was that a relief. There was a time when I didn't think I would be able to get the Platinum for this.

You had me at Lego The Hobbit!! This will be a D1P for sure. However, my son didn't fall in love with Lego Lord of the Rings. We finished it but didn't get the Platinum because he didn't want to play it anymore. Hopefully with him being older now it will interest him more. We are so close to getting the Platinum in Marvel Super Heroes and I think it's the best Lego game yet. Really excited for this and we are going to see The Desolation of Smaug this weekend!

Excellent. My family LOVES the LEGO games. Just this weekend they were playing LOTR, PotC and Batman 2. As a gamer with a family I really appreciate what these games do for me - they keep my wife interested in gaming - which in turns allows ME to keep spending money on gaming.

How about if LEGO started doing games based on - wait for it - video games! I'd love me an Assassin's Creed LEGO game - or Uncharted. Can you see Uncharted 2 as a LEGO game? I can....... :)

You know, I think you have a good idea there. But just the other day, I thought it would be great to get a real life looking game that played like the Lego games. We already have Lego so that is great. But it would be cool to have a Batman AO game that is like Marvel or Batman 2 with all the different characters in an open world. It would be great to have both!

If the game fails to deliver content form the third part in releasing the title too early I simply cannot call it 'diverse'. I advise no one to buy this upon release and wait for the edition next year containing all 3 films featured - This is such a stupid release.

No way I'm waiting a year or two to buy when it's out now. You MIGHT be right about all 3 in one package but they only did that will Lego Star Wars and they split Harry Potter into two games. Pirates of the Caribbean and Clone Wars and even Indiana Jones didn't do that. They were all stand a lone.

I've been tearing up Marvel Lego, my wife and I play it every day. It's really a good game if you enjoy a bit of co-op.

The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit are two of my all time favorite books so I'll take a chance on this one D1.

Please don't gimp the Vita version like Lotr... Don't just give us a port from the DS. Would love some quality Tolkien on the go!
