Rumor: Two Assassin's Creed Projects In The Works For 2014
Some avid fans wouldn't have minded if the vaunted Assassin's Creed franchise took a year off in 2014. I wouldn't.
But according to the latest rumor, Ubisoft has not one, but two separate AC installments slated to release next year.
One is in development exclusively for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U while the other is being made only for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. On top of which, the source in question said the franchise is undergoing a "massive re-scope," whatever that means. The latest entry, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, was critically acclaimed despite representing a significant departure from the tone and structure of past installments. So, what "re-scope" might they be referring to...? They better keep the core of the series alive.
It's not a bad idea to create two separate games for the new and "old" systems, though. I put "old" in quotations because only in the electronics industry does something new come out and a few weeks later, the previous models are suddenly "old."
