Kingdom Come: Deliverance Announced For PC, Next-Gen Platforms
Role-playing fans looking for another open-world experience should thank Warhorse Studios.
A team comprised of industry veterans that have worked on titles in the Crysis, Mafia, ArmA and Operation Flashpoint franchises, the developer has finally announced Kingdom Come: Deliverance, an action-oriented RPG "featuring blockbuster production values, a nonlinear story and revolutionary, first-person melee combat."
Said creative director Dan Vávra:
"The team's ambition for Kingdom Come: Deliverance is growing this ever-maturing sandbox genre in a believable, real-world context and scope. To that end, we're harnessing CryENGINE®3, nonlinear narrative, varied freedom in character progression, and a consequence-laden living world in ways that have never been possible until now."
Centering on the Holy Roman Empire during the late Middle Ages, Deliverance involves a "harsh and brutal power struggle for the throne." There will be all sorts of fighting techniques with which to experiment and ultimately master, and that includes horeback combat, open-field sieges and massive battles. There will be no magic or "mythical overtones;" the game is based on historically realistic characters, themes and warfare.
More information will be released on January 20, 2014. For now, all we know is that the game is coming to PC and next-gen consoles, and we'll just assume that means the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. For more information, stay up to speed by checking out the game's official Facebook page.
