Kingdom Come: Deliverance Announced For PC, Next-Gen Platforms

Role-playing fans looking for another open-world experience should thank Warhorse Studios.

A team comprised of industry veterans that have worked on titles in the Crysis, Mafia, ArmA and Operation Flashpoint franchises, the developer has finally announced Kingdom Come: Deliverance, an action-oriented RPG "featuring blockbuster production values, a nonlinear story and revolutionary, first-person melee combat."

Said creative director Dan Vávra:

"The team's ambition for Kingdom Come: Deliverance is growing this ever-maturing sandbox genre in a believable, real-world context and scope. To that end, we're harnessing CryENGINE®3, nonlinear narrative, varied freedom in character progression, and a consequence-laden living world in ways that have never been possible until now."

Centering on the Holy Roman Empire during the late Middle Ages, Deliverance involves a "harsh and brutal power struggle for the throne." There will be all sorts of fighting techniques with which to experiment and ultimately master, and that includes horeback combat, open-field sieges and massive battles. There will be no magic or "mythical overtones;" the game is based on historically realistic characters, themes and warfare.

More information will be released on January 20, 2014. For now, all we know is that the game is coming to PC and next-gen consoles, and we'll just assume that means the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. For more information, stay up to speed by checking out the game's official Facebook page.

Awesome idea, I'd love to get into a realistic world like that if it's up to snuff.

Could be an awesome game, but a thought occured to me while watching this.

While the cryengine 3 is great right now I'm starting to have this fear that it will be the new generations unreal2.

Sounds very interesting, I can't get enough open world RPG's. It's great to see the genre doing well these days.

Smiled at "horeback combat" ;)

This seems like something I've been waiting for. Demon's Souls styled combat without the magic. If this manages to capture the right look and feel, it could be utterly phenomenal.

Not really for me. I prefer to stay away from this kind of realism. Interested to see if they actually manage to make first person melee combat interesting though.

FP RPG, CE3, sounds good.
please let this be the first RPG that has a amazing world, amazing story, and amazing combat.
drives me nuts that pretty much every RPG out there makes you choose one or the other, why cant we have all 3 in the one package?
