Rumor: Lazlow Sorta Confirms Next-Gen Ports Of GTAV?

Well, it's hardly official and Lazlow is in the clear because he technically didn't say anything, but...

One of the biggest reasons to hold on to your current-gen system has been the recently released Grand Theft Auto V. Many avid gamers who planned to nab one of the new consoles (the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One) really believed GTAV would be the last title they'd play on the PS3 or 360. That was the plan, right?

For a while, it was hoped that Rockstar would bring the new GTA adventure to one of the next-gen consoles. We still don't know if they will, but during a recent Opie and Anthony interview with Lazlow (as heard on SiriusXM; catch the snippet below), one of the franchise mainstays - Lazlow, the coolest dude on the radio - had to respond to that very question. He said they "haven't announced anything yet" and then there's this bit about a wink, which Lazlow said was just a "seizure."

Funny stuff. But really, does anyone think Take-Two doesn't want to put GTAV on the PS4 and Xbox One after the new consoles have developed a decent userbase? I mean, it seems inevitable.

What a bunch of dudebros. I'd rather Rockstar just keep on with the new stuff and let this one go.

We received a tip linking directly to this video.

And we have a policy of crediting the original source, which is of course that interview.

R* decided to go with the current bigger user install bases with the PS3 and 360.

They made over a billion dollars. They dont need to port this.

They should just get cracking on developing something next gen from the ground up.

if this was any other company but Rockstar I'd say an HD port would've been a sure thing. But as it's been, Rockstar's statements have been very off putting of any kind of port.
A potential problem with porting this to PS4 and XO is the amount of resources required in order to do it, if they hadn't prepared for this move before hand. That is this could require a copious amount of work if this wasn't originally part of their plan.
I don't see Rockstar as a company who would just do a res and frame rate upgrade port. That's the sort of thing a contracted out dev team could do. Where few to none of the assets are changed, it's just engineered to run on the faster hardware. But I think Rockstar esteems themselves to something better than that.
I would'nt be surprised if Rockstar just stuck to what they've said and began the undoubitliy massive undertaking of the next GTA game.

A PC port is inevitable, that much we know. I still really don't think that R* would port GTA V to next gen, though it must be considered just how close the hardware architecture of both consoles is to the PC; which would undoubtedly make it a far easier prospect than it would have been in the past.

I just think that I don't want it to happen. GTA V was an achievement of the current gen. I feel that moving it over would only serve to cheapen it a little bit.

Ports are pointless to me since I already have the game, and would be a massive waste of Rockstar's time and money to work on.

If the port gets made, they need to outsource it to a third party, like Gearbox is doing for the Borderlands 2 Vita port.

I want Rockstar to focus on making new games, not porting this, that, and everything else they make to please a minority of people.
